Be All My Sins Remember’d

Stargate Atlantis Episode: 4.11

Airdate: January 3, 2008

Stargate-Atlantis-411 Episode 11 begins where 10 left off, with the Atlantians, once again, jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire. Thanks to McKay’s nifty new software, they can now pinpoint the location of every Replicator ship. Wonderful news, until they realize that the Replicators have 37 ships and counting.

This isn’t a war that’s going to end soon and the Replicators are fighting dirty. Rather than go head-to-head with the Wraith, they are going after the Wraith’s food supply, aka humans. While Sheppard and his teams are scrambling to evacuate the endangered settlements, McKay and his new Wraith pal are still working on the code that will destroy the Replicators. Alas, the clock is ticking and it doesn’t look good.

In one of my favorite scenes, McKay is left to explain his plan to Colonels Caldwell and Ellis but Ellis in particular has no patience for the long, drawn out tale. He snaps at McKay, McKay snaps at him and Sheppard is forced to deliver several of his patented, “Rodney” commands in order to keep things rolling. (I love how McKay listens to Sheppard! There’s a story in that somewhere, I know there is.)

In the end, it’s decided that the Daedalus and the Apollo will engage the Replicator ships and blast them out of the sky. This works well while the ships are scattered, but when the Replicators decide there’s safety in numbers — well, it’s a good call on their part.

In need of a larger fighting force, Sheppard, Teyla and Ronon accompany the captured Wraith on a trip to his hive ship in hopes of recruiting more help. After a close call with some blasters, the Wraith delivers seven more ships and it’s off to the fights we go.

But wait! There’s one more group ready to join the fight — it’s Larrin and her band of merry travelers. Just for the heck of it she again ties up Sheppard (a girl after my own heart) and when she’s done playing, she agrees to add her ships to his.

Oh by the way, did I mention that Teyla mentioned that she was pregnant? Ronon’s reaction is so sweet I almost swooned. But do we think she’s lying about who the baby’s daddy is? She was awfully cagey about it. . .

And back to the show. Big old space battle. Huge battle of epic Star Wars style with ships blasting ships and fancy flying and close calls and everything. Wonderful special effects, except I really don’t watch this show for the space battles so — ho hum, enough already.

But wait! There’s more! There’s Fran! In another truly brilliant scene, McKay creates a Replicator virus in the form of a young woman he names Fran. (”We’re naming things now?) Shame, I liked Fran. More than I like Larrin, but alas Fran is no more.

On second thought, dead isn’t always dead on Atlantis is it, as exemplified by the unexpected tag at the very end of the episode.
