Star Wars Looks to Conquer Cartoon World
The animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars is slated for an August feature-film debut, according to the franchise’s official site. The regular TV series will come out in the fall through a partnership between Lucasfilm Ltd., Warner Bros. Pictures and Turner Broadcasting System Inc.
The animated movie releases August 15 and the resulting TV series will air on both Cartoon Network and TNT in the fall. George Lucas said there are a lot more Star Wars stories to tell and he is eager to use animation to tell them, pushing the art form further in the process.
Filling in the gap between Episodes II and III, The Clone Wars will feature well-known characters like Anakin Skywalker and the diabolical General Grievous. There are also characters created specifically for the show, like a new female Jedi with a decidedly feline appearance. This one looks as if it’s got all the ingredients to be a hit. Lucasfilm Animation already has 30 episodes ready to go and is working on more.
