Are You Crying? There’s No Crying in Sci Fi!

by brian on February 20th, 2008

P1000530 At least, that’s the case in an eHarmony story that lists The Top 20 Movies That Make Guys Cry. Unfortunately, the only film on the list with sci-fi chops is the 1999 animated tear-jerker The Iron Giant. No qualms with that one.

But overall, are you kidding me? Love, Actually and Terms of Endearment ahead of say, Spock’s death scene in Wrath of Khan? Incidentally, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock made me cry for an entirely different reason. And how many 13-year-old boys screamed when Megatron killed Optimus Prime?   SFUniverse fans, what flicks really make you turn on the waterworks?

“There be whales, Captain” gets me every time and Hey, come on, can anyone get through E.T. without a box of tissues!

I cried like a baby when Wash died in Serenity.
