On March 11, Stargate: The Ark of Truth will appear on the shelves of your local DVD retailer, but we’ve got three copies to give away right here! That’s right! Three lucky winners will be walking away this great sequel movie on DVD and all you have to do is leave a comment on this post.
Stargate: The Ark of Truth is a thrilling feature-length film that picks up where “Stargate SG-1,” left off, thrusting the Stargate team – Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks), Vala (Claudia Black), Teal’c (Christopher Judge), Sam (Amanda Tapping) and Cam (Ben Browder) – into their most exciting adventure yet. In search of an Ancient artifact they hope can defeat the oppressive Ori, the team learns that the Ori are set to launch a final assault on Earth and a double-crossing I.O. operative is aboard the Odyssey!

I love Stargate because it has fantastic characters that you actually care whether they live or die. Some shows you just root for someone because they’re the protagonist, the good guy; this show, you have that, but you also root for them because they’re awesome, interesting people. The storylines keep you coming back through the years, make sense, and are sound continuity-wise, so that makes it all the more fun when some detail from years ago comes back, pops up and gets you thinking.

I loved it from the beginning. I saw the movie in the theaters when it first came out. But when I heard they were going to make a series from the TV show, I thought they were going to mess it up. Boy was I wrong. If anything they made it better. I especially love the Danielle and Jack O’Niel characters.

You know, most fans have good reasons for liking SG-1. “Oh, the great characters!” “Oh, the one-liners!” “Oh, the plots and arcs!” “Explosions! BOOM!”
You can say a lot of the same things for other great sci-fi shows: Battlestar Galactica, X-Files, Doctor Who…
But my reason? SG-1 is the only sci-fi show where you can apply it ALL. It’s action adventure, but it also has serious themes on religion. There are so many hilarious lines and episodes, but a lot of bad things happen as well and good people die. Romance and sex exist, but they doesn’t overwhelm the whole show. Sometimes you have a lot of spectacular blowing-up of buildings and bad guys to do, and sometimes you have some really good character growth going on. Sometimes you have layered storytelling and foreshadowing, and sometimes you’re pulling a sci-fi trope out your ass to parody and make homage to. The villain could be the evil overlord in a gold toga, or the American politician not so easily taken care of.
Also, they’ve got more awesome black and minority characters than most “normal” TV shows. I’m just saying.
SG-1 will always be my favorite sci-fi show, because it never stopped with one goal, of a single or a few themes or points or ratings-baitings. It went for a decade, and went for everything.

Wy I love stargate?! first let’s start with the original series.. how about SG1’s O’Neil (MacGyver)… so he’s not with the team anymore, but there’s still Sam, and Daniel and ever-faithful Teal’c.

I love Stargate because it’s intelligent, exciting TV, wrapped in a universe where every time the teams step through the gate, anything can happen and did. The bad guys were intriguing and intelligent enough to keep the good guys on their toes. And the show had a sense of humor about itself, that it showcased in episodes like “200″. Best of all was a cast - new and old - that rocked with great onscreen chemistry - especially Jack and Daniel.

I LOVE Stargate SG-1 more than any other television show that has ever been created and have been watching this show long before it ever came to the Sci-Fi Channel…I actually signed up for Showtime just to see it and then cancelled my subscription the second it moved to another network! :-))
I watch this show each and every day after I get home from work and must have seen each episode at least 4 or 5 times already, if not more.
This is one of the few programs on television where the entire family can watch without fear of foul language or other terrible things that are often found on TV….it always presents good values as well as kindness, generosity, team spirit and the wonderful sense of wonder and exploration.
I was absolutely devastated when they decided to cancel the show. I had absolutely no online presence at all until February of 2007, when I went online to find out WHY such a great show had been cancelled….since then, I have joined up at many Stargate-related communities, as well as many other sites just to keep Stargate in my life….I have even signed up at Team Stargate so that I can help MGM promote the Stargate fanchise in any way that I can…I am a 51 year-old woman and basically a very normal person, with a very normal job and a very normal life, except when it come to this show….I JUST LOVE SG-1!!!!!

I love Stargate SG1 for the main themes it has used over the ten years of episodes: redemption, honor, sacrifice, duty, family, friendship, love, exploration, self-reliance, and love of knowledge/learning.
I love Stargate SG-1 for its excellent cast, quality writing, beautiful music, wonderful direction, fantastic special effects, lovely set design — all the elements combined that create a quality tv show.
I love Stargate SG-1 because it kept its sense of humor and self-mockery over its ten year run.
I love Stargate SG-1 because of the mythologies presented — not only the mythology of Earth religions, but of non-Earth based religions — and the mythology of the show. The extensive story arcs.
I love Stargate SG-1 because of all the rich supporting characters and their terrific actors - Bra’tac (Tony Amendola), Jacob Carter (Carmen Argenziano), Dr. Janet Fraiser (Teryl Rothery), Dr. Bill Lee (Bill Dow), CMSGT Walter Harriman (Gary Jones), Maj. Paul Davis (Colin Cunningham) and so many others.

Stargate, when it was first a movie, captured my imagination and allowed me to travel to other planets as I watched. When it became a television show as Stargate SG-1, I was overjoyed. My husband is also a big fan. Friday nights were our “Sci-fi nights.”
We watched as the characters grew and continued to engage our sense of adventure with intelligence and humor.
I love the Stargate series for giving me and my husband 10 good years of fantasy and entertainment, and for giving us a giggle when Jack O’Neill gave his point of view on many occasions.
The series ended far too soon, in my opinion (though I enjoy Stargate Atlantis, too). It was by far the best of the TV shows.
I’m glad to see that someone has seen fit to keep it going with a movie to DVD. I hope they make many more!

I love Stargate!! It has kept me entertained and interested in the shows since the original one. I watch it, tape it, rewatch it. The characters have grown so much since the beginning. I love to watch them all act so very well and make it all seem so easy and believable. I feel like I am there and a part of it. It is family friendly and has sparked interest in fields of space and science, and I am proud to be a part of that ever growing fan base for SG1 and SGA and whatever other shows they spawn.
I believe it is true entertainment and can’t imagine not ever having watched this truly wonderful, well written show, and whether I win or not, I am really just glad to say thanks for giving us the shows.

I’ve known about Stargate since it first aired, but never really got into it. It wasn’t until Ben (Cameron) and Claudia (Vala) arrived on the show that I started following it. I enjoyed the show during the seasons those two actors were on it, and found the show easy to watch and follow.

I still can’t believe they ended the series without resolving the Ori issue, and can’t wait to see what twists lie ahead on the new movie!

They ended the series without resolving the ORI issue because the ‘Sigh-Fi’ channel decided in their infinite silliness to cancel the show and did not give them any chance to wrap things up properly.
The movie, ‘The Ark of Truth’ which is coming out on DVD on March 11th, is supposed to resolve all of these questions and tidy up the storyline…and hopefully our heroes will finish off the Ori arc forever!

Stargate Atlantis is very well written and a believable plot with great characters. I also enjoy the blending of Stargate SG 1 and Stargate Atlantis. The ORI are the best enemy they have faced in the many years of Stargate.

I love stargate. The storyline keeps me involved and it pulls bits from actual science that is going on now. A person can just envision some of the things becoming reality. Just recently there was a bit on the news about a worm hole from the bermuda triangle to the ocean near Japan. So cool!

I love Stargate because the gate can take you to different worlds and cultures, although, not all of them may be good. The show lets imagination show about what could be out in space and how we would handle situations that could happen.
Love the cast members and how they handle themselves in each episode and you always know they will find a way to get through the problems that eventually happen.

Stargate is never boring. The shows were well written
and acted out. Some other long running sci-fi shows
seem to get worse not better over time, like DR. Who.
New is not always better! In the case of Stargate
every show is an exciting adventure!

I love sci fi in general and Stargate SG-1 was one of my favorite shows. I love how Samantha Carter was the smart one and all the great technology they used. I also enjoyed all the different adventures and seeing people overcome adversity. I was a bigger fan of the earlier shows more then the last two seasons. I liked when O’neil was on the team, but the other characters were great. I can’t wait to see this dvd!

Stargate was an easy choice to watch week after week due it’s talented cast, fantastic stories, and sense of humour!
Richard Dean Anderson was literally the glue that held the team together through his funny quirks and hilarious comments, I have always enjoyed watching him from the MacGyver years and it was a thrill to see him on screen once again through Stargate. His personality was a wonderful balance to the stoic Teal’c, outstanding soldier Samantha Carter along with brainy Daniel Jackson.
Even after his departure, the cast stayed strong with the introduction of two new cast members, namely Ben Browder & Claudia Black, who incidently worked together previously on Farscape (also a SciFi show). They brought in fresh and exciting energy with their unique personalities that literally brought the show to new levels - they soared to the stars in no time!
As Teal’c would say “Indeed, it is a shame…”, it was a shock to hear that it was cancelled. However, I was absolutely estatic to discover that not one but TWO movies were being produced.
I simply can’t wait to watch them!

I have been a fan since the movie! I love the script writing tying in all the ancient gods. I am so sad to see it go.

It’s an all around solid show. It’s plot driven, but you still care about the characters. Lots of adventure, but it doesn’t take itself too seriously.

It’s got a sense of humor, heart, and intelligence. Most of the characters are people you would want to know, (and ones you’d want by your side in a faceoff against the Goa’uld!) And it’s one of the few choices available for those of us who need our weekly sci fi fix!

I will not beg and lie in order to win this DVD. I do not like Stargate, it does nothing for me at all. On the other hand my husband loves this show, every time it is on I call myself “Stargate Widow” because I get no attention at all. Forget football, bring on the aliens….lol. I love this show! The actors are great and I love the stories. I would love to go on one of their adventures. My father got me hooked on science fiction at an early age and I’m 53 now and still can’t get enough science fiction. Thank you for the great giveaway.

I became a Stargate fan with the original movie. When it came to television, I was thrilled that I could watch it on a weekly basis. It’s a fantastic mix of ancient and modern cultures and ideas. But then, away from the mind part…look at all the bulging muscles! Whether in someone’s brain or on their arms…Overall, it’s a great show to watch for the first time as well as in repeats. I just can’t get enough!

My boyfriend absolutely loves the show and was first in line to rent the movie when it came out. I mean he got up early to be there before the video store opened. He is a huge fan of the sci-fi aspect but is also attached to the characters. He would feel so honored if I won this for him.

I love Stargate the series and the Movie, they are both great, and would love to have this on DVD, me and my 11 year old son watch this faithfully ( the series) even ther re-runs, and we have seen the first movie alot of time, I am glad to finally have a new one to watch!!1

THE SHOW WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOO WELL DONE ON ALL LEVELS: WRITING, ACTING (MAJOR CHARACTERS & PHENOMENAL SUPPORTING ROLES), DIRECTION, POST PRODUCTION EFFORTS. THEY ALSO GAVE US A CHANCE TO GET TO KNOW & APPRECIATE THESE FABULOUS CHARACTERS, THEIR STRENGTHS & THEIR WEAKNESSES, THEIR WINS, THEIR LOSSES…THEY BECAME PART OF THE FAMILY, IN A SENSE. 10 YEARS I WATCHED & SUDDENLY THEY WERE GONE…& THAT WAS LIKE LOSING FAMILY.
