Come to Vulcan! And Bring A Coat….
A small town in Canada named Vulcan wants to follow in the tradition set forth by Springfield, Vermont’s hosting of The Simpsons’ Movie premiere. Vulcan, of course, thinks it’s a great candidate to host a premiere of the eleventh Star Trek film.
Coming in May 09, the prequel starts Chris Pine as Capt. Kirk and Heroes’ Zachary Quinto as Mr. Spock. Vulcan spokeswoman Dayna Dickens said Paramount is considering the town’s request. Vulcan has been using its unique name to attract tourists for years and even hosts a three-day Trek convention. But there are some unique roadblocks in the town’s path. For example, Vulcan doesn’t have a cinema. It does host movie nights in the local gym, however.
Yeah, well I’m from a small town named Minden, La. and our downtown area appeared in Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins. Which should at least qualify us to host… well, almost nothing, really.
