Comic Series North Wind Becoming Film
April 7, 2008 by brian
If you’ve got a comic book set in a dark future, some Hollywood executive is ready to be your huckleberry.
The Hollywood Reporter says Davis Entertainment has acquired film rights to Boom Studios’ SF comic-book series North Wind, and the book’s writer David DiGilio will adapt the five comic series for the big screen.
North Wind takes place in a futuristic Los Angeles in which global warming has created a new ice age. Most survivors live under the ice an under the rule of a a cruel dictator who exiles his enemies to the frozen outdoors. One exile decides they’ve had enough and says they want a revolution - well, you know.
This announcement comes just days after similar news that Tobey Maguire will adapt Red 5 Comics’ Afterburn, which also has a postapocalyptic setting. But in that one the Earth is ravaged by solar radiation.
John Davis will produce the live-action North Wind feature with Boom co-founders Andrew Cosby and Ross Richie via their Boom Entertainment banner. Sci-fi fans know Cosby best as the creator of Sci Fi Channel’s show Eureka. DiGilio will executive-produce. This isn’t Davis Entertainment’s first crack at sci-fi as previous projects include I, Robot; Alien vs. Predator; and Eragon. Well, I sort of liked I, Robot. One out of three ain’t bad – oh wait, it kind of is.![]()

who cares? When or if is eureka coming back
This is not specific 2 your topic, but it is relative 2 this category so I thought I’d ask you:
Who or What is “ION”?
–Godspeed–
No problem. Ion is basically the “good version” of Parallax. It’s an entity that can apparently choose whoever it wants to host it. It was Kyle for a time and now has chosen Daxamite Sodam Yat.
There’s a lot of talk about this character being a little too powerful. Daxamites have Kryptonian-level super powers, so Sodam w/Ion is like Superman having a Parallax level entity in him. Technically no one should ever be able to beat somebody like that.
