Beam Him Out of There, Scotty

Well, after the first Secret Talents of the Stars episode it’s clear that as a country singer, George Takei makes a great Starfleet lieutenant.

His rendition of Willie Nelson’s On the Road Again was quite painful and one judge’s comments probably got the network in hot water. Producer Gavin Polone called it the “Brokeback Mountain” version of the song, a not too veiled reference at Takei’s now well known sexual preference.

Takei played it off well, reminding viewers he was “coming out” as a singer on this show. Takei wasn’t one of the two stars picked to advance, those honors going to Clint Black and Sasha Cohen. Black tried his hand at standup comedy and wasn’t too bad. Cohen showed her skills as a contortionist. Hey cheer up George, maybe William Shatner can get you into a Priceline commercial.
