Jericho Fans Say Nuts to Nielsen

What, you didn’t think the rabid supporters of CBS’ recently canceled show Jericho were done did you? The Tampa Tribune reported that Nielsen Media Research’s Oldsmar, Fla. headquarters received what its officials say is the first protest on its record Tuesday. It came in the form of $1,212 worth of salted, still in the shell peanuts. That was 21 50 lb. bags of peanuts for those counting at home.
Those, of course, were a loving gift from Jericho fans protesting Nielsen’s role in the show’s cancellation. Jericho fans believe Nielsen’s method of compiling ratings is outdated and helped lead to the show’s March cancellation. Nielsen donated the peanuts to a good cause, area food bank America’s Second Harvest.

21 bags of nuts is nothing. If anything, this proves that fan stunts are nothing but that–stunts.
A year ago Jericho fans sent 25 tons of nuts to CBS. Now the fan numbers are so low they are sending the equivalent of a single fruitcake to Nielsen. Big deal.

This time it is not about the amount of nuts but the statement which is Nielsen did not count us.
There were over 100 Nielsen employees watching and Yes… cheering the nut drop!
