Kasdan Will Pen Robotech

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed a rumor that’s been making the rounds for a few days now, that veteran screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan (Empire Strikes Back) will write the live-action Robotech adaptation.

One of the most well-loved animes, Robotech chronicles mankind’s struggle to fend off alien invasions using technology humans found in an alien spacecraft. Humans use the technology to create that most important of anime conventions: giant robots!

Tobey Maguire will produce the film through his Maguire Entertainment. There is much speculation about whether Maguire will take the lead role of mech pilot Rick Hunter or if he’ll appear in the movie at all. Either way, it’s  certain to be a hit if done well.
