Admittedly, when it comes to the Avengers, specifically Ant-Man, I'm not that savvy...If Ultron is some killer huge robot determined to world domination, then John's right and we would need the Avengers...Regretfully, even w/the addition of Ant-Man as part of the Avengers I still lean heavy that Marvel will use the Ultimates storyline that the Hulk as the powerful threat to bring them together...Only time will tell though.

I am with Rhyno on this one. a solo Ant-man movie would have sucked balls. The only reason he is mention for the movie is to bring Ultron as the main baddie. That's probably why he is in the movie because his creation Ultron has gone out of control and only the team up of these heroes can save the world.

Ant-Man was initially being discussed as a solo flick but those talks have died down as they've announced a firmer schedule. To really keep this on track for 2011 they'll need to make sure the Cap and Thor movies get out by then.

Pym's never carried his own book for very long as far as I know so the best bet would be to introduce him in the Avengers movie.

OK Brian, if he's so legendary do you really think Marvel will feature him in a solo flick or rather as part of the Avengers movie? A secondary part @ that, like Disney worked D'artegnon as the 4th of the 3 Musketeers or how Columbia worked the Winston as the 4th in Ghostbusters. Personally, I side w/the latter.

Not popular in the cartoons, but in the books Hank Pym/Ant-Man is a legendary character. Marvel's heroes have always dealt with real world problems and Pym's appearances dealt with everything from alcoholism to spousal abuse.

I'll be interested to see if they touch on any of those issues with Hank in the movie.

Capt American & Thor I get, but come on--Ant Man...Is he really that popular?...If it wasn't for the TV cartoon, I wouldn't even know he existed...Even then I thought he was a lame char...I mean how dangerous he is to villians depends on where the battle occurs...If army ants, killer bees, scorpions or poison snakes are very near, then he's a threat...If insects are not close, then he's not...He suffers from the same Catch-22 like Aquaman.

Regardless, Marvel HAS to do Thor right & good...Otherwise, my uncle will be miffed...That's his fav Marvel char...Seriously, because portraying believable solo superheroes is one thing, but adding the initiative that they NEED to band together 2 defeat a terrible threat that's greater than themselves alone AND make it work on the silver screen--that's another thing entirely...I mean this ain't the X-Men we're talking about.

Obviously, the critical component to this story is "Cap"...More than anyone else, his char has been the glue & leader of the Avengers in the comics & the same will have to be true on-screen.

Needless 2 say, it depends on how well Cap & Thor do @ the box-office that will determine whether "The Avengers" will assemble...Sorry, couldn't resist.
