Hancock Delivers Weekend Knockout

July 7, 2008 by brian

People in Hancock’s world may not like him, but moviegoers loved him to the tune of a $62.6 million opening weekend. That’s the fifth July 4th weekend win for Will Smith.

Hancock pulled in $30 million more than second place finisher WALL-E. Much of the talk now is about a mid-film “twist” that has left some of the movie’s viewers cold. It will be interesting to see if the buzz has a positive or negative impact on Hancock’s second week in cinemas.

Bucking for the no. 1 crown this week is Hellboy II: The Golden Army. Will Big Red mean stop for the homeless superhero? I love this time of year.

Big Red will rule next weekend, and rightly so, imo.

  2. Brian Allen says:

The trailers look pretty good, I’m excited.

  3. Rhyno says:

No, Hancock will still hold the top spot.

As I hinted to in the earlier Hancock article you posted, the “twist” in the middle is what made the rest of film more interesting for me. The latter part also revealed to me they still make zagnut bars & they can be deadly–I did not know that.

Will Smith is Gloden. This dude has the Box office golden touch, America loves him. I don’t know if he will be about to hold on to #1 when Hell Boy opens.

Check out how crazy Hollywood is. I work with Motorola right. They set up for Danica Patrick. It has a talk show spoof Video? on it. It’s pretty funny. The reason why I’m telling you this is that she might be getting a real talk show. How crazy is that getting a real show off a spoof show. Only in America!
