Do You Take Your Eureka Light or Dark?

'Eureka' press panel in San Diego

Eureka’s Colin Ferguson talked to McClatchy News Service about finding your way. He described finding his way through a complex role as one of Eureka’s non-genius residents, and a third season show that’s finding its way through a competitive genre.

McClatchy also talked to the show’s executive producer Jaime Paglia about changes in the show’s tone. Paglia feels a couple of episodes were so dark they got away from the show should be about, but didn’t mention specific episodes.

This season Eureka will have fun with diverse storylines including what a dog show’s like in a town of Einsteins. Not everybody is embracing the change. Popular genre review site IGN gave the season’s first new episode, Bad to the Drone, a 7.2 rating calling it a perfectly average episode of Eureka. Reviewer Travis Fickett likes the darker tone and wants the show to get away from what he calls the “gadget of the week” plots. What’s your take, readers? Should Eureka continue having fun, unravel the dark mysteries of the universe, or seek a balance in between the two?

I like my Eureka light and fun. There are too many dark sci-fi shows out there, that is the charm of Eureka sci- fi show that is positive. I mean the show is called “Eureka” not “Doomsday”

It looks like they’re going a lot lighter this year, we’ll see if that turns out to be the right move.
