New Community for SciFi Book Lovers
August 13, 2008 by Cynthia
If you’re a lover of science fiction books, Tor, one of the leading publishers, has a new destination for you. It’s Tor.com and it’s a combo news outlet / social site for.
At Tor.com, you’ll find short stories from Hugo and and Nebula Award-winning British sci-fi writer Charles Stross (Singularity Sky, The Concrete Jungle, Accelerando) and film critic turned Campbell Award winner for Best New Writer John Scalzi (Old Man’s War, Agent to the Stars, The Last Colony), as well as blogs from noted sci-fi and fantasy luminaries, news, commentaries and image galleries featuring works by some of the field’s best artists.
The community aspect at the moment is a profile and the ability to chat in a forum and comment. It’s a good start, but I’d like to see a more participatory project on site — maybe a group writing project?
The site was launched only a few weeks ago, with inaugural posts from Comic Con and has expanded to include book reviews, Worldcon notes, coverage of the Hugo awards and some fantastic art.
If you’re a lover of literary scifi, check out Tor.com.
