“Y’know this is the first older female character, I wouldn’t mind Dean hooking up with LOL…..in my mind of course”

Me either May. It’s been awhile since Dean had a really good night with a woman sex wise. Sam hads had some three times since Dean hads, so I think it’s way past time for Dean to finally get some good lovin’ that is seen and not just heard like in TMS.

  2. Elise says:

What a lot of bashing of Samgirls and Jared’s hair by the holy *sheesch* Yes, you are the ones that makes the fandom looks so incredibly good, right.

Thanks Cynthia - wonderful pics and I’m amazed that Jared seems to excude changes in his character even in the stills! He already seems edgier.

No, I’m not gonna watch the first eps either, not until Sam’s storyline comes back alive, if ever. But I will miss watching Jared!

So yes, Kripke got what he wanted, hope he’s happy.

  3. tina says:

I have to admit what they do with Sam in season 4 will determine wether I go on watching Mr kripke needs to remember we dont all watch for Dean but the premiere I shall judge after I have seen it thats only fair..

  4. Anie says:

Elise one person mentioned Jared’s hair, it’s hardly attacking and actually reset was the one doing the attacking, only natural she should be rebutted. Clearly she wants the Sam Only show because the ONLY thing that has changed is that Dean’s got a role in the mytharc. Nothing else. Sam did not lose anything. Dean isn’t the only one traveling back in time - not only do the sides not suggest it, but aside from one mention by Ausiello, which only mentioned Dean but did not exclude Sam, every single other spoiler for that episode suggests BOTH brothers go back in time.

Reading what reset wrote and what you wrote, the only thing that can be assumed is that you are mad because Dean’s as present in this episode as a co-lead of the show should be. Why in the world would Dean not be here in the premiere every bit as much as Sam? Did you honestly think you were going to get a bunch of episodes without Dean? He’s one of the lead characters. Dean has a scene at the beginning without Sam, guess what clearly Sam has scenes without Dean as well - we are seeing pictures of one of them in this very article.

I’m failing to see the imbalance here. What I see are people complaining because Sam doesn’t have sole claim to the mytharc anymore, which was an IMBALANCE in and of itself. There have been every bit as many spoilers for Sam as for Dean. Sam’s spoilers have been both about his mytharc AND about his emotional role, something Sam fans are constantly saying they want more of.

  5. Katie says:

Honestly in every single thread some Sam fans have to complain, despite the fact that Sam is very present in the pics and Sam is the one getting all the interesting emotional stuff and the LI , plus his mytharc which has never been said to have gone away. It is never enough. Stop watching then if you are unsatisfied it is not about Sam. I thought I was watching Supernatural not the Sam Winchester show and it does seem some fans are determined to make it way and it ruins it for the rest of the fans who like both and the constant whinning is gratting. Also remember this not everyone watches for only Sam like some or only Dean like some, alot of fans like both brothers and both actors . Kripke has said both Sam and Dean go back in time and from the sides and the pictures it is clear Sam is very present in the premire but it never is enough for some fans and it is tiring. Both Jensen and Jared make this show great and both are increadably cool and talented guys and neither deserve to be torn down nor the characters to prop the other one.

As for the pictures, I think both boys look great and I am so happy we do not have to go a long time without them together. I am interesting in the 3 diffrent girls. I think only 1 is Sam’s LI and the other is Ruby. I am looking forward to Sam and Dean’s reuion , it will no doubt be very emotional and I cannot wait to see what Jensen and Jared do with it. S4 cannot start soon enough.

  6. marysuehater says:

Wow, can the Sam fans ever, ever be happy? I don’t think anything Kripke can do, outside of making it completely about Sam will ever satisfy them.

Elise, don’t let the door hit your behind.

Tina, I’m sure you’ll be happy because it looks like SuperSam is on the way, including power, light lazer and his own personal Yoda

Dean has finally got his own storyline and a place in the mytharc and oh boy, it’s the Apocalypse of Supernatural. Sam the Wonder Boy is no longer Super Speshul all by himself, he has to share it with Dean. How atrocious. Kripke, the nerve to give the other lead of your show any kind of importance. It has to stop otherwise those poor Sam fans will just cry.

We must have the Sam Super Hour or ELSE!

Get a life people. This is a show of Dean and Sam, not just the superduper Sam Winchester Hour. Oh, I love those theories that Sam is both Christ and the Anti-Christ. Cripes, talk about a Mary Sue. Sam’s already so close to being perfectly perfect, it’s laughable.

  7. Elise says:

Excuse me Deaners but Dean had almost all of S3 and it sucked. If this story forgets what it started out with to give Dean even more (he’s had the teeny angst storyline for so long that I wish Kripke would let the man grow up already!) And since Kripke is clearly stating that those who don’t like the Dean show should watch something else i am just doing what he invites his audience to do.

So why are you Deaners complaining, you got what you wanted and the show is yours. I hope Sam is killed off so Jared can go on to something better because Supernatural is clearly sliding down hill and fast if it’s continuing the S3 line.

  8. Yay!Dean says:

Thanks for the pix Cynthia. You are too good to us but please don’t stop.

I am so stoked for the premier. Damn Dean looks awesome and right at home behind the wheel of his baby. As an extra special treat, we get bicep-porn. Yay!

    Then

  9. marysuehater says:

    P.S. Reset?

You sound like the same Sam fan that is on all the boards whining about how Dean is taking over and poor Sam isn’t the star of the show anymore because of Dean. Waaaahhn!

I can only shake my head and wonder what made you think this was the Sam Winchester Hour in the first place. Oh, wait, cause you’re a Sam Fan who has the right to complain until you get what you want, the totally Sam Show, including the cape. After all, I’m sure Sam will be able to fly soon, or at least you hope so.

  10. marysuehater says:

Elise, season 3 sucked because they tried to make it the Sam/Ruby/Bela show and Dean was relegated to secondary character. So, no, season 3 didn’t suck because of Dean, but because of Dean not being there.

If you noticed, season 3 the second part was great because guess what? They stopped treating Dean like he didn’t exist and made him part of the show again.

Nice try, but if you have to blame season 3 on anybody, blame it where it is, on the crappy writing and the crappy characters.

  11. shelby02 says:

I think it is fair to say that there is complaining by both sides. There has been a hilarious discussion ongoing for THREE days on TWOP with people upset that Sam is described as being a “mathlete” in highschool in an upcoming episode. They think once again Sam is being labeled smart and Dean dumb.

I am just looking forward to the season actually starting. At least then, complaints will be based in actual fact rather than spoilers, pictures, and sides taken out of context.

It seems there will always be fans, myself included, debating and defending the merits of each character and actor, which is odd considering how there seems to be little if any competitiveness between Jensen and Jared!

  12. tina says:

Season3 the first half was Dean centric so that argument is rubbish so nice try for that one or Kids alright a Sam episode? but the writers strike
    didnt help season 3

  13. marysuehater says:

season 3 wasn’t Dean centric. It was all about Sam and his destiny. Sam and Ruby his personal guradian angel. Sam, the man, killing the CRD, Sam the Anti-Christ, the BoyKing, the DemonKing in the making. Oh please. I watched the show. It sucked because they tried making Dean superficial and Sam the heroic one. Then they had Bela, who made both Dean and Sam dumb as dumb can be, and Katie who couldn’t act..

Get over it Tina, it’s not all about Sam anymore.

  14. Elise says:

And the end of S3 was so full of plot holes that it made me cringe.

There was maybe two mentions of Sam’s sl during the entire season and it’s Sam fault the season sucked. How deep in denial can you live?

The season was all about Dean (and his hang
around Bela), except a few eps where Sam was allowed to play a significant part. Even Kripke has admitted that Sam’s storyline was pushed back in favor of Dean’s deal.

But it’s Sam’s fault that the season sucked? LOL!

  15. marysuehater says:

How deep of a denial can you live in Elise?

Since you and your followers seem to think that season 3 sucked because of Dean, yet the ratings went back up during the second half and were second highest during Jus in Bello. Huh. Will wonders never cease?

  16. Elise says:

It won’t survive into S5 with these numbers. And no it didn’t go up during the last part as you claim. only the finale got higher ratings, but not the highest of the season. Jus in Bello was promoted like a mytharc episode - and it took some viewers back but then it dropped back again.

Kripke has all the evidence he needs in those numbers, he just chooses to ignore the facts.

  17. Sonja says:

Okay, I hate to add gas to this ongoing fire….

But if it were not for us bickering Sam and Dean girls, this show would be getting much higher ratings, and people would not have to leave the show, and not have to stop watching it!

I am 25 years old, and I think that this elementary school bantering is childish, (this is going to get me flamed) and better left for the playgrounds.

Can’t we act like SPN girls, instead of Sam and Dean girls? That is what the shows is truly about right? The whole basis of the show, not just the men acting in it, or maybe I missed that memo.

You all fight amongst yourselves, and sadly, the show will fall asunder when we all leave for such pitiful reasons as ‘Sam’s mytharch is just not working for me.’

Oh well, I will get off my soap box and scurry off into a hole somewhere.

  18. marysuehater says:

Wow Elise, you must be going senile.

Let’s see. Season 1 started on Tuesday Nights, following Gilmore Girls. It was switched to Thursday Nights on the death night, death hour and guess what? It’s still alive. Yeah Elise, even after facing AI on Tuesday nights and surving, and facing CSI and Gray’s Anatomy on 9PM for Two Years and surviving, then having to face all the other shows they kept tacking on at 9PM Thursday Nights, the most popular night of the week and surviving, you are still going to blame it all on Dean??

How pathetic is that? Can you really be so self-centered and narrowminded that you would think that if Kripke made the show all about Sam it would do better?

Well, wake up! Kripke tried doing that at the beginning of seaon 3 and failed.

But, you won’t see that. All you’ll see is that unless Kripke makes it all about SAM, it’s not good.

It sure as hell didn’t go down on the second half like you claimed either.

And if you forgot, Jus in Bello also followed a SN repeat, Nightshifter. Huh!

Well, making it about both Dean and Sam is good enough for me and 99% of the fans watching. Get over it.

  19. marysuehater says:

Just to put everything in perspective. After the strike ALL THE SHOWS WENT DOWN! Not just SN. Stop blaming Dean for everything. If it wasn’t for Dean, this show wouldn’t have seen second season, let alone 4 of them

  20. marysuehater says:

Oh, and let’s not forget the big move to the CW, and the lack of promotion. Yet, we still survived and are the second top rated scripted show on the CW. Boy, really. You need to get over it.

Kripke finally made the show equally balanced and the Sam fans are going nuts because it is now balanced and not only about Sam.

  21. ali says:

Elise, how can Kripke miss you if you won’t leave?

That aside, ratings were higher on the old WB because… it was the WB. :P It aired in more cities, it had an already-established fanbase, and the original night was good for everyone concerned.

Season two, enter the CW. Young, unproven network, airs in less cities, Supernatural is in the so-called Time Slot of Death.

If you took your Samgirl blinders off and looked at all the factors, you’d realize what everyone else already knows. But then you’d have to let the facts get in the way of your desire for the All Sam Winchester All the Time Hour, and I know you’ll never do that.

  22. CLB. says:

Yay, pics!!! Can i request Travis? and Castiel? oh Castiel? ;D

  23. Vera says:

Oh, c’mon, the show is about BOTH boys. It was only the mytharc storyline that didn’t involve both boys equally, and now it finally will. Sam’s storyline is *ongoing* because his destiny storyline is the heart of the mytharc and that has to be told over the course of many seasons.

I thought season 2 was fairly Dean-centric, but I thought season 3 was pretty Sam-centric. Ruby was about Sam. Lilith was about Sam. Mary’s secret was about Sam, as Ruby stated. And most of the anvils in the standalone eps were about Sam losing Dean. Dean was just basically hanging around waiting to go to hell. Sam was the one who got to be active in Dean’s deal plot because Dean couldn’t even be an active participant until the last few episodes.

For me, season 3 suffered because the writers didn’t have a clue of what to do with Dean’s character in the first half of the season, because he couldn’t be active in his own storyline, and because he didn’t really have any place in the show other than worrying about Sam and Sam’s destiny. To me, it was kind of The Sam Show, guest starring “sidekick” Dean and THAT was the problem. I think by giving Dean an *equal* place in the mytharc in S4, this will give the show a better balance: both boys can have both mytharc storylines and emotional arc storylines. Yay.

Elise, you must not understand how the ratings work. Season 1 was on the WB, a different network, and it was in a different time slot. You cannot compare the ratings in S1 with S2 or S3. Plus, this past season ratings were down on every network and for every show due to a number of factors: increase in the use of DVR’s, watching shows on the web, and the writer’s strike, and we had even tougher competition in our time slot in S3 than we had in S2.

Oh, and a Sam fan (i.e. “reset”) started this entire Sam vs. Dean discussion, Elise, and then you continued it with “why is there all this Sam fan bashing?!?” I think people are honestly trying to express their excitement for the show and then the same few Sam fans take over these comments with their whining before the season has even started, based on nothing but spoilers. *sigh*

  24. Katie says:

    Wow. Crazy much?

I’m thinking between the sucky writing, the sucky ratings, the sucky fandom, and the sucky CW, this show ain’t gonna make it to season 5.

  25. marysuehater says:

I think the season will make it to season 5 just fine. It’s the CW you have to worry about Katie.

  26. immie_8 says:

Alright, may I request that if you wish to make comments about “which brother is getting the shaft on the show” that you take your comments to either a fan forum or a personal blog, because I really don’t feel that this is the place for it. I’m not trying to censor people, I just feel that it’s places like these (sites that cater to a variety of shows and not just SN) that helps create more buzz for the show, and IMO, all this bickering is just going to turn people away. And that’s one thing (well, at least I hope) that NONE of us want.

  27. I agree with Sonja and marysuehater First of all supernatural is about both of the boys not just about sam and not just about Dean, if u really supported the show and sam u wouldn’t be attacking anybody. I just can’t beleve how great Jared and Jensen get along while the fans can’t. I think its stupid both of the boys love the show and u know what so do hell of a lot of other people, we watch the show because of the brothers and its not the same without one of them gone, if that happens this show is gonna end so fast. This show is about family, and the two brothers underline two brothers not one. so finally Dean gets to be a part of the show just as much as Sam. And Honestly I love both boys and they do an amazing job as well. PLUS the ratings you showed us I want to know if its only for the US cuz I’m in Canada and I don’t think that its only that many people who watch the show I don’t know if they inclu. the other chanels where this show airs. I don’t wacth it on CW and I know a lot of people who live in many different countries who watch this show. ANYWAYS, WE NEED TO STOP THIS MADNESS AND CARE ABOUT SUPERNATURAL, CUZ ITS ABOUT BOTH OF THEM AND NOT JUST ONE OF THEM (I FEEL LIKE I’VE BEEN SAYING THIS HELL OF A LOT LATELY, AND I JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY THE FANS CAN’T GET A LONG AS WELL AS THE BOYS, FINAALY YOU GET A SHOW WHERE THE ACTORS GET ALONG SO WELL, YET SOME OF THE FANS ARE ATTACKING THE MAIN TWO CHARACTER PEOPLE NEED TO GROW UP).

As for the pictures they seem awesome, I can’t wait for season 4 to begin. This season is gonna be awesome. Can’t wait two see the boys back on screen again.

  28. fedup says:

Elise (and reset) the great tragedy of you claiming that you will not be watching the show if it isn’t about Sam is that you still won’t stop bitching about it on every discussion forum and ruining the excitement for the rest of us.

I guess that’s the point, but do yourselves and the rest of us a favor and get a frickin’ life. Honestly if your life sucks so much that this is how you need to make fun for yourself, it’s probably time to step away from the computer and try having a real conversation with a live person again.

Now before anyone jumps on me for only blaming sam fans, I’ll point out that I’m talking to two (but most probably one) specific person(s) and not Sam fans as a group. This person(s) is deliberately baiting people by making idiotic and unsubstantiated claims over and over again about Dean, Jensen and the show.

And with that I am done feeding the troll(s).

  29. Enough says:

I agree with immie_8- Take the childish banter back to your boards, blogs or LJ. Don’t bring it here, it’s this kind of wank that gives the fandom a bad name.

The sad part is I recognize a few of the Sam fans, because they have posted this verbatim at other boards. Shame on you for bringing outside wank to a blog.

Elsie- You do know that as a whole The CW has been eroding viewers for the past two seasons. I mean really do your research before you just pull out numbers. Every blogger on the planet has said this. Smallville only gets an average of 4 million it used to be a 6 million viewer show.

Gossip Girl never made it, it was DOA on the first day. ANTM- Took a big hit this year, it only averaged around 4 million. It also used to be a 6 million viewer show.

    1) Because they don’t have as much coverage as the WB did. 2) Some of the CW stations are on the upper digital channels, and some people don’t have access to it anymore. 3) DVR numbers are up almost 30% last year, which after factoring in the live +7 numbers, we pretty much match last years live numbers. (well for the most part)

Season 3- got a shaft because of the writers strike. Some story lines were moved to season 4 and some were finished. Also Ruby and Bela didn’t help much.

It was not the Dean show or the Sam show it is about both brothers and their separate journeys. But they come together in the end.

Sometimes I really am ashamed of this fandom…

Oh PS Thanks Cynthia for the pics, they were just wonderful…

  30. Sara says:

I’m sorry i’m French so my english isn’t very good…

I just want to say that Sam fans are a bit frustrated because the powers of Sam weren’t exploited. His mythology hasn’t be “pushed” at the end.

Sam was the reason of many things, but Dean by the personality that they allocated him seems more present: there was an equilibrium.

I hope Eric K. will keeps this equilibrium to satisfy the fans.

ps: Thanks a lot for the pics, i’m happy to see brothers together

  31. ali says:

Sara, I’ll concede that Dean may be a more interesting character to some. But I don’t think that’s any reason to pigeonhole him into the sidekick role. If anything, it’s more reason to give him something to do other than stand around and look awed by Sam’s powers, and be the butt of everyone’s jokes.

  32. Sara says:

Ali, you’re right, and it’s not what I wanted to say.

I just hope that we will see Sam’s powers if Dean has a more important part on the show.

As everybody says, the show is about brothers, so they have to be “equal”

Eric K. said on an interview that the real hero was Dean and that he was sorry for Sam’s fan. So, I don’t imagine anything, I just note that Dean always has seem as present as Sam in spite of the power of his brother which has never been exploited and developed.
So, if Dean is now a part of the mythology too, they have to give something else to Sam’s character.

  33. Elise says:

I think the am and his fans bashing is fairly evident in the replies. Just as obvious as when proof are being served, they are not to be believed. It’s all Sam’s fault that S4 sucked,, despite Kripke himself admitting his storyline was pushed back. Post hoc arguments folks!

Let’s just see how it goes in S4 if Sam’s sl is still dragging, shall we? And hey, those of you who want me to shut up, (very mature of you btw. since I have not bashed a single one of you by calling you stupid or asking you to leave) a little wake up call may be in order. This is the web and discussions are allowed (even if they are ot to your liking.)

And I will keep checking out spoilers to see if any eps is worth tuning in to. So sorry if it grates tyou the wrong way.

Wow, I have to agree with Enough here. Everyone bickering back and forth about which brother should have more screen time is why this fandom has a bad rep for being a bunch of crazy fan girls. It baffles me how people can like one so much more than the other. So what if Kripke is intergrating Dean more into the mythology, big deal. That’s the way it should be. The show is about two brothers, not one with a big destiny and his big brother. Besides, I think we know from Croatoan that Kripke has always planned to have the show at some point come down to brother vs. brother, one born to lead the dark side, the other born to stop him. But how would that even be possible if Dean didn’t have his own place in all the mythology, just as Sam does? Do you really think that Sam was gonna end up the anti-christ and Dean was gonna be able to defeat him just by giving him a hug? I just think that if you cared about the actual show itself rather than which one you like the best, or think is the hottest, it wouldn’t matter to you which one the story was focussing more on.

As for the ratings issue, well, that basically means nothing. The US rating system is based off Neilsen, which is ridiculous all in it’s own. Further more, considering the move in networks, and the increase in people watching online or DVR, ratings mean nothing.

  35. Kim says:

Oh, God…. I really really wait for this season….to die! Welcome back, boys. ^^

  36. faryal says:

i cant wait! Jensen looks amazing as usual *grins*.. oh yeah *grins some more*… I WANT SEPT TO HURRY UP!!

  37. Wow! That’s a lot of hair-pulling! I hope everyone loves Season Four!

  38. ragamuffin says:

Did anybody notice the small scar on Dean’s shoulder, and the red marks on his knuckles. Is the scar left over from the hellhound attack, and the marks on his hands from having to claw his way out his coffin and grave? Plus what happened to the tatoo on his chest? I guess he’s not as protecting from possession as he was before. Can’t wait for answers.

  39. ragamuffin says:

Oops!! Sorry for the typos. I didn’t do a very good job of proofreading. Meant to say: Plus, what happened to the “tattoo” on his chest? I guess he’s not as “protected” from possession as he was before. Still excited about Season 4!!!

“since I have not bashed a single one of you by calling you stupid or asking you to leave”

Bright, sweetie, you’ve done it elsewhere, zillions of times. You don’t need to do it here specifically, under this specific sockpuppet, for me to treat you as you’ve earned. Also, I never called you stupid or asked you to leave. I merely asked how Kripke is supposed to miss you when you keep hanging around. You’ve said dozens of times that you’re done with the show, yet you keep moaning about it on every website you can find. You’re sending the man mixed messages.

  44. Morgan says:

Elise, shame on you for calling yourself a Supernatural fan. You’re going to pick and choose which episodes you’re going to watch if the description is to your liking? Pathetic. If you were a true fan, you would watch every episode. Jared Padalecki was the reason I started watching the show in the first place; but I’ve come to love both the brothers equally. It would not be Supernatural if either of the boys left. They both make the show. If you’re going to favor one brother over the other, do us all a favor and stop watching the show. The rest of us loyal fans are sick of all this bickering. Can’t we all just be excited for both the brothers?

  45. Ozzie says:

After seeing these pics I can’t wait for season 4, and I hope every fan watches so that we can give the boys high ratings and high marks.
