Eleventh Hour Switching Pilot Episode Out
August 24, 2008 by brian
A second high-profile SF show is pulling its planned pilot episode to please network brass. Following on the heels of Fox’s pilot redux for Dollhouse, TV Squad reports that Jerry Bruckheimer’s Eleventh Hour will switch out its pilot episode for another.
If you’ve watched any CBS show in the past two months, you have probably seen the promo for the episode about human cloning. That one will air later in the year and Eleventh Hour will begin instead with a show about a food syndrome causing paralysis. Eleventh Hour is a remake of a British show that starred Star Trek:TNG’s Patrick Stewart. It’s not the only show to mine British TV as ABC will bring us Life on Mars.
While Dollhouse’s pilot problems have worried the legions of Whedon faithful due to their Firefly experiences, this isn’t seen as a big deal for Eleventh Hour. Since Bruckheimer is the mind behind the hit CSI franchise (and Eleventh Hour gets the posh time slot behind CSI) this show will get every chance to prove itself. Look for Eleventh Hour October 9 and look to SFUniverse for Eleventh Hour coverage.

If they are playing the tricks with the pilot already, I don’t feel that eager to put the work into watching the series. I’m really burned out after Firefly, Jericho, (Surface I wasn’t all that disappointed by) and then Journeyman. Journeyman was shaping up to be the best series in its whole genre, and I wasn’t gonna watch it because I though the whole “fix history” thing was way overdone. They did so many things right though, including giving that series legitimate moral dilemmas without crossing the line into immorality and that is hard. Why should I trust CBS not to just drop another series after a year because they don’t have the right numbers watching.
I think it’s safe to say Bruckheimer will get every opportunity.Between CSI, Amazing Race and Cold Case, CBS wouldn’t be where it is w/out Jerry. It’s going to be hard to mess up the post-CSI slot if this show is any good at all.
Oh No this is not fair…huhuhu… I love the show so much.
