Atlantis May Be Ending but Mallozzi Blogs On

August 25, 2008 by Cynthia

logo05 By now, I assume you’ve all heard the news. This will be Stargate Atlantis’s fifth and final season. I’m disappointed but not surprised. We came into this year knowing that renewal would be a longshot.

With that, Joseph Mallozzi begins his farewell Atlantis speech on his blog.  Before reading this, I was under the impression that ending at five had been a unanimous decision.  This trend is so popular these days, that I thought for sure it had been the plan all along.  But Mallozzi’s blog post makes it clear that this wasn’t the plan.

Still, it’s not like a real goodbye.  Not the kind of goodbye you get when a series is abruptly canceled.  Mallozzi still has a few more episodes to cover, more dinners to describe, more behind the scenes pictures to post (Jason playing guitar on set). His blog has always been an amazingly open door into the world of Atlantis and I don’t see that ending any time soon. Atlantis may have been canceled, but the blog goes on and on.

Visit THIS post for more parting words from the crew, answers to fans questions about the demise and pictures of Jason getting brained with a guitar.

I wish all TV producers would write blogs.
