Trucker Loves Battlestar Way Too Much

September 18, 2008 by brian

Lee Adama Image I’m as much a dedicated Battlestar Galactica as the next guy, but some people take it to the extreme. Oh, I don’t mean dressing up like an original Cylon and attending a church function. Because who would do that? Not me. No way – and those charges were dropped.

But the Daily Telegraph reports 37-year-old Benjamin Trotsman got caught driving a 38-ton big rig while watching BSG on his laptop. Another trucker spotted his erratic driving and alerted police.

A police spokesman said he appeared oblivious to other motorists, speeding up and slowing down, and crossing on occasions on to the hard shoulder.

Trotsman initially pleaded guilty to a charge of driving dangerously at Penrith magistrates court last month.  He then applied to withdraw his guilty plea, and change it to not guilty, but magistrates denied that request.

The case was adjourned and Trotsman will be sentenced on October 3.  He denied that he had been watching Battlestar Galactica. SFUniverse is investigating the rumor that Lee “Apollo” Adama served as his legal counsel.
