Iron Man Blasts Onto DVD Today

by brian on September 30th, 2008

iron-man-repulsor-ray Today’s DVD offerings are dominated by the unlikely combination of an actor many had written off and a comic book hero that was solidly C-list before his movie debut.

That’s right, today on DVD is the release of Fox TV movie Nick Fury:Agent of Shield starring David Hasselhoff. Oh, and there’s some movie about a guy called Iron Man that you may have heard of. He runs errands for Nick Fury, who is apparently also a master of disguise. Over the course of a decade he went from looking like Hasselhoff to Samuel L. Jackson.

Seriously though, this movie was a great opening showcase for Marvel’s new film studio. And it’s seen a career resurgence for Robert Downey Jr. who is suddenly one of the hottest actors in Hollywood again. Critic Ward Triplett of the Kansas City Star praises the extras on the two-disc and Blu-Ray versions of the flick, including a documentary called I Am Iron Man that runs for nearly two hours itself. Those purchasing the DVD at Wal-Mart get the live action film and the pilot episode for Iron Man:Armored Adventures, a NickToon that will debut in 2009.

It was to Iron-Man that I bestowed the honor of being my 1st BluRay…And thanks to PS3 for showing me the difference…It did not dissappoint–the images were much sharper & the sound was booming.

BTW, who is this new blond-haired Marvel hero–The Sentry?

What’s up, Ryan? I’m taking the PS3 plunge next year sometime after I pay off my car.

The Sentry is Reed Richards and Bruce Banner’s best friend (retroactively) and so ridiculously powerful he made the entire world forget that he ever existed.

He is my hero forever for flying the completely useless villain Carnage into space and then ripping him in half.

After facing the Hulk in WWH, it seems he’s not the most powerful hero anymore…And we thought, Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned…Turns out the fury of the Hulk from killing his wife & unborn child is just as ominous, if not more…Hulk beat Iron-Man, Mr. Fantastic, The Thing, even Black Bolt…But his trick on Dr. Strange was the best.

That was a great story by Greg Pak…But then, I’ve liked his stories since his work on “GCPD”.

On second thought, Is Marvel’s “Sentry” the answer to DC’s “Superman”?
