Lois decides to move in with Clark at the Kent Farm. People, stay as far away from Clark Kent as you can. Really. Case in point: Somebody sends him a mysterious blue crystal that transports him and Lois to the Phantom Zone. This is the same crystal Tess has been busy searching for. Chloe finds the crystal, then Tess shows up and wants the crystal despite Chloe’s efforts to convince her it isn’t there.
Chloe calls Ollie for help but Davis shows up trying to find answers about his life. Lois and Clark run into Kara, who has been in the Phantom Zone all this time. Jor-El gave her a portal but she hasn’t opened it because she didn’t want any Zoners escaping like when Clark got out. Chloe finds Ollie and wants him to steal a piece of equipment from Tess that will help hack the alien crystal. He gets it, but not before Tess catches him in the act. As Green Arrow, Ollie shoots her with a temporarily paralyzing arrow and “lets himself out.”
Kara and Clark agree to send Lois home but something follows her back and takes possession of her body. Turns out it’s Faora, wife of General Zod. She’s looking for her son and tells Tess as much. Tess offers to help but Faora knows she’s lying and blows past Tess at superspeed. Faora read several of Chloe’s articles while at the Daily Planet and goes to her for info. After getting put in a Kryptonian death grip, Chloe drops the file with Davis’ picture.
Faora finds Davis and tells him “Mother’s Here,” as he does a great confused look. Chloe hacks the crystal and Ollie wants to know how. She tells him she doesn’t tell him how to shoot arrows. Chloe goes super scary and when Ollie tries to disconnect her from the crystal she tosses him across the room. A portal opens and Clark convinces Kara to come with him. After they get back to Metropolis Chloe explains the situation. Clark tells Kara to find the Martian Manhunter (in his guise as Metropolis PD Detective John Jones) and ask for his crystal.
Meanwhile, Faora explains Davis’ heritage to him and tells him he’s meant to rule this world. But right now he’s too weak. So she promptly runs him through with a metal pipe. That which kills him makes him stronger, she says. Then Faora taunts Clark, saying his parents didn’t love him the way she loves her son. She then knocks him through the wall but before she can finish him, Kara shows up with the crystal that takes Faora back to the Phantom Zone.
Lois thinks she hallucinated the whole thing and Tess gave her a raise. Funny. Lois will be using that raise to get her own place, so she’s not moving in with Clark after all. Good, because Ma Kent wouldn’t approve of them shacking up anyway. Tess talks to Clark about the Kryptonian spaceship Lois discussed the day before. Tess shows him a footprint of his she found at the Kent Farm, which matches one at the Arctic Circle. She tells him they are on the same side and that he should trust her. Whatever.
Speaking of trust, Kara tells Clark that he should tell Lois his secret. Kara believes Miss Lane is tough enough to handle that. She says that on some level Clark believes the same thing or he wouldn’t have let her get so close. Clark wants Kara to stay, but she heard rumors in the Zone that the Kryptonian city of Kandor survived. She’s going to find it, but Clark’s destiny is to protect and inspire humans so he must stay behind.
Clark has more trouble as Ollie wants to know what Superguy is doing about Chloe’s Brainiac infection. He’s working on it, Ollie. But Clark’s biggest problem goes by the name of Davis Bloome. He wakes up, seemingly unsure if he dreamed his whole encounter with his mother. He runs himself through with the metal pipe, getting the Clark Kent bullet time effect that apparently means his powers are fully active now. Ruh-roh, Raggy.
