Heroes Parkman, Claire and Peter It's Coming Heroes Episode 3.09 “It’s Coming” Recap

Air Date: November 17, 2008

Check out our preview here.

When last we left Hiro, Arthur was doing his mental mojo. Ando tries to stop Arthur and gets swatted away like a bug. But Arthur sees Usutu’s painting of an eclipse and goes to examine it further. That gives Ando time to talk to Hiro, who now thinks he’s 10 years old. Ando makes Hiro blink his eyes, thus teleporting them to a bowling alley in Tokyo. Ando teaches Hiro how to use his powers again. Hiro proceeds to stop time and play a series of pranks on people at the bowling alley. After learning to teleport again, Hiro and Ando end up at a comic book shop. Hiro is distressed that Captain America is dead and the Hulk is red now. Me too, Hiro. Me too. They pick up a 9th Wonders comic and its future-telling pages explain that an eclipse is coming.

Nate goes to see his dad, who explains everything that is happening to him is part of his destiny.  Arthur says Nate has always been his favorite son, the most like Daddy. (Then why did you try to kill him again, Art?) Nate has doubts. Tracy talks to Nate and then doubles back to talk with Arthur. He expects her to ask him to take her powers away. Rather, she wants to help Arthur bring Nate along with the plan. Guys, never trust superpowered girls that look like Ali Larter. Who am I kidding? I’d be working for Pinehearst too. It turns out Pinehearst is a place Arthur would take the boys fishing, hence that company’s name.

Arthur wants to teach Sylar how to use his powers better, as in without killing. Arthur says he knows Sylar has a good heart, because he saved Peter from falling to his death. Arthur looks Sylar in the same cell with Elle, who’s a little pissed that Sylar killed her dad. After she lets Sylar have it with everything she’s got, she asks him to kill her. Sylar tells Elle that they both wanted to be normal but their parents wouldn’t allow it. He takes away her “pain,” but she retains her powers. Now Sylar can use them too and Elle teaches him how to use them. I don’t know, seems like she got over that whole “you killed my father” trip really, really fast. I know he wasn’t the most likable guy but come on!

Peter has gone to see Claire who wants to protect him. Flint and Knox show up and Claire jumps out a window. Meanwhile, Mohinder is doing more experiments but can’t quite the formula right. Mohinder explains to Arthur that the catalyst that allows power transfers is not a something but a someone. Arthur says Kaito Nakamura hid it, but not well enough. Um yeah, it’s Claire. Peter tells Claire that in the future she’s going to kill him. It’s Claire that Flint and Knox are after. Peter tricks Flint into using his fire powers around a gas line, allowing Claire and Peter to escape.

Matt Parkman and Daphne go to Primatech to find Angela Petrelli.  A vision of Usutu leads Matt to Angela. Daphne uses her superspeed to go tell Arthur what’s happening. He warns Daphne to make sure and remember what side she’s on or go back to her former life. Not trusting Daphne to take Matt out, Arthur has a dream Daphne stab Parkman. That causes the real Matt to begin bleeding to death and the real Daphne begs Matt to take her inside his mind. This may be among the most confusing scenarios I’ve ever recapped which for science fiction is saying something.

Arthur reveals himself to Matt and tells him of all the ways the actual Daphne has betrayed him. Arthur compares it to the way Angela betrayed him. But Matt and Daphne reveal their love for each other. Angela appeals to Arthur’s humanity and he lets her go. Yeah, I don’t understand it either.

Once everyone is out, the Primatech team realizes Claire is the catalyst. Arthur uses his new pre-cog power to paint the eclipse and warns his Pinehearst charges that it’s coming.
