Season One of Star Trek Coming to Blu-ray

March 31, 2009 by brian

mime-attachment This is the news that may make me break down and get a Blu-ray player. The first season of Star Trek will be on Blu-ray April 28, full of new features and new interviews. This is the series that redefined sci-fi and became a TV/film franchise that’s still going strong today.

There’s a little Star Trek film coming out this May that you might have heard a little something about. This is seven discs, 29 episodes and really, it’s a large part of the reason we have Sci Fi Channels (whatever they call themselves these days) and sci-fi blogs.

Supernatural Rocks at the LA Creation Con: Part Two

March 31, 2009 by Cynthia

ALO-062989 When we last left the LA Creation Con, Jared Padalecki was delivering coffee to his co-star Jensen Ackles – sweet huh? Except ten seconds later we all hear the voice of Dean Winchester shout, “What are you trying to do to me!” Jared shrugs and says, it’s very strong coffee. But me, I’m thinking of Alona Tal telling the story about Jared trying to get her to drink coffee with soy sauce in it. . . yeah. Talk about Greeks bearing gifts, or in this case, really tall Texans.

It’s Sunday afternoon at the Supernatural con and Jared Padalecki, aka Sam Winchester has taken the stage.

In retrospect, I think Jared was a bit more subdued than usual but that’s not an insult. On the contrary, he was all Southern-laid out and lanky in that black button-up and jeans and his hair. . .  okay, brief fan girl moment. . . and I’m back.

He was working the crowd, leading us down the path he wanted. For example, someone asked why he was riding such a little motorcycle in Friday the 13th. He leaned back in his chair, ran his hand through his hair and said, “it was actually a very large motorcycle.” Implying, of course that the very bigness of Jared made the bike seem small. Truth be told, everything, even Jensen, looks small next to Jared and since I adore California Redwood Trees. . .okay, just one last fan girl moment then I swear, I’ll stop. (Potential tiny spoilers coming up. . .   )

Supernatural Rocks at the LA Creation Con

March 31, 2009 by Cynthia

ALO-062749Don’t tell my husband, but I spent the weekend with Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, and Misha Collins. Okay, so there were a thousand other fans along for the ride but hey, I don’t mind sharing. When it comes to Supernatural, the more the merrier and certainly the crazier!

It was the Creation Con’s Salute to Supernatural Los Angeles 09 and a great time was had by all. There were so many terrific guests that it would take me weeks to tell you everything that happened and all that was said, so for now, I’m going to stick to the highlight of the weekend, Jared, Jensen and Misha.

Jensen took the stage first looking relaxed and handsome in a loose, blueish-grey button-down shirt and jeans. Though the show had technically wrapped for the season, he said he still had one more scene to shoot in Vancouver the next day so he was working on little sleep. Still, he was nothing but fun and animated and seemed to really enjoy spending those few hours with all of us wild and crazy fans.

Tonight on Heroes: Into Asylum

March 30, 2009 by brian

Peter Into Asylum The look on Peter’s face does a very good job of summing it up. Things are dire for the Heroes. With Senator Petrelli’s powers now exposed, there’s no one to stop the government from rounding up people with abilities and snuffing them out.

He may have to turn to his mother Angela for help, and nobody trusts Angela. Especially her family. But as a fugitive, you do what you have to do to survive right?

NBC has given the go ahead for another season so readers, what do you think of the Fugitives storyline so far?

Check Out Tricia Helfer on Chuck

March 30, 2009 by brian

NBC takes care of its actors and I salute their efforts to keep Tricia Helfer on my television as much as possible. Fresh off her run as Caprica Six (and numerous other Sixes) on Battlestar Galactica and a guest stint on Burn Notice, tonight she will guest star on Chuck.

Helfer will play a secret agent who comes between Chuck and his handler Sarah. Seems the government bigwigs don’t think Sarah can do a good job because she’s fallen in love with Chuck. Helfer plays Alex Forrest, an agent that doesn’t let her emotions get in the way and – oh, the heck with it. Did I mention Helfer’s character goes undercover at a bachelor party?

Family Guy’s Goodman Says Make it So!

March 29, 2009 by Cynthia

When Stewie can’t get his questions answered at at Star Trek: TNG reunion con, he takes matters into his own hands. Like any smart toddler, he builds a transporter and beams the entire cast into his bedroom for his own one-on-one Q&A.

It happens tonight on the Family Guy episode “Not All Dogs Go to Heaven.”

Executive Producer David Goodman sat down with reporters this week to talk the episode and how it came about.

Let’s start with the why:

Goodman: Actually, you could ask last week why did we do a Back to the Future reference when the movie is 30 years old. I think we’re fans, especially Seth and I are huge fans of Star Trek and we realize that although there had been plenty of episodic television that brought back the cast of the original series, there, in fact, had not been, in fact, I wrote one of them for Futurama, “Where No Fan Has Gone Before,” where we reunited the original cast.

Could Lost Be Coming to Hulu?

March 28, 2009 by brian

50717EL You’ve probably seen those Hulu commercials with Eliza Dushku, who even looks hot as an alien sent to eat our brains. We could possibly soon see Evangeline Lilly threatening to exterminate the human race in commercials for the NBC Universal TV/Internet venture.

Paid Content is reporting that Disney could grant access to its ABC programming in exchange for equity in Hulu. The service would certainly benefit from having a show like Lost, which warrants repeat viewings to figure out what the heck just happened. There’s still no clear indication whether Disney programs like Aaron Stone would be part of the deal.

The sci-fi tinged commercials with Dushku and Alec Baldwin are part of a huge national branding campaign to make Hulu a household name. Getting the Disney empire behind Hulu would be a gigantic step in garnering that name recognition.
