A 19-year-old boy named Adam (guest star Jake Abel) calls Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) looking for John Winchester, claiming to be his son.  Dean and Sam meet Adam, assuming he’s a demon trying to lure then into a trap.  However, they find out that John was indeed the boy’s father and Adam tells them of his “normal” upbringing, which infuriates Dean.  Phil Sgriccia directed the episode written by Andrew Dabb & Daniel Loflin (#3T7519).

    I don’t know what to think, honestly. I just hope, with all my heart, that this jump is worth the leap and that in the end, we’ll think this episode was worthy, rather than a total ’screw the pooch’ from Kripke.

    It’s not that I mind a 3rd brother, no. What I mind is how this messes with our love for John, coz yea, I’m with Dean on this one.

    But you know, I really don’t think John ever painted himself as a saint, that pedestal Dean put him on all by himself. Dean WANTED John to be the greatest Dad ever, and by his standards, he was. In Sam’s eyes, however, John fell short and maybe that is why Sam will be more accepting of this 3rd brother than Dean will.

    I don’t know. As I said, I hope this shark doesn’t end up costing this show more than was necessary. I hope these writers prove to be better than they have in the past coz I really haven’t liked what they’ve done so far. They make Dean and Sam so OOC by the end of the ep’s they write.

    ::crosses fingers::

    The two writers of tonights’ ep are Dabb and Loflin, I believe. They were responsible for the plot-hole filled Yellow Fever, and how that painted Sam in a horrible light, and how that made Dean a dick, which Kripke felt he had to explain. I hated that he thought he had to explain the bad writing but there you go.

    NOTE TO KRIPKE: Um, hey Kripke! If desparation lead you to Dabb and Loflin, I know of some brilliant fanfic writers who could write circles around those two guys and you know, I bet they’d work for a song just to be part of the canon of a show we love.

    Think about it. Contact me. I know where you can reach them!

    Well this episode left me in a bit of a mood. I loved the fact that Dean and Sam got through it with bravo and the same commitment to each other we all love (was anyone else grinning when Dean busted through the ceiling, or was it just me?). But it bothered me that the writers killed off the new brother. Sam and Dean go through alot of crap, they get beat up on, feel lonely and are working to save the world…couldn’t their last connection to a “normal” life have been saved? This episode felt like a bit out of the loop. It really didn’t fit into the underlying major story of angels vs demons nor did it play out like one of the good ‘ole “monster hunts” we all love. It was kind of a downer episode. What were we learning from this? That Dean and Sam have issues with each other? Hey we knew that. That Dean and Sam don’t see eye to eye on how to handle things anymore? We knew that too.

    If the episode was just to reenforce their commitment to each other it was fine, but I think the writers should have left out the death of another family member. These guys have enough to deal with.

    By the by, I think this is still the best show by far on tv right now. I love them…I mean it. ;)

    I definitely complain a lot this year ( never in previous years) but I still think that Supernatural is still the best TV Show right now maybe because this is one of the show that has the benefit how the character on screen grows at the same time the actor who portray the character grows .
    Its kind of amazing how I can see Sammy grows and at the same time see Jared as an actor grows. You see Sammy season 1 not only he was still a boy at that time so innocent both appearance and personality, now grown up become hottest man on Supernatural universe to the point every women on a show got a thing for him, and at the same time is more complicated than Avril Lavigne ever been. Hee.I cant stress enough how Jared’s acting has been stronger noticeably since season3. If I watch season 1 ep to season 4 ep, just WOW. Sorry I’m rambling.
    Episode Jump the shark although it wasnt as good as Afterschool special was still watchable.
    At least a lot more watchable than terrible “terrible life” or”on the head of a pin” and not as slumber as “death takes holiday”
