MBV’s Supernatural Shout Outs

Not only does My Bloody Valentine 3-D star Jensen Ackles from Supernatural, but did you know that even Jared and Supernatural fans get a mention, too! It’s all part of the commentary track that you’ll find on the new DVD release which hits shelves on May 19.
Director Patrick Lussier and writer Todd Farmer have a congenial chat as they watch the film, doling out great behind the scenes stories and cluing you in on some of the things you may have missed. Ackles fans will get a particular kick out of Lussier’s observations about the talented actor, whom he thinks will make a fine director one day. Farmer seems more interested in how “dreamy” Jensen is and he won’t get any arguement from me on that point.
What caught me by surprise was Farmer’s mention of Jared Padalecki who was in Texas filming Friday the 13th at the time. It was part of a conversation about which of the Winchester boys was having a better time filming their summer feature. Farmer thought it was Jensen for the win, owing a lot to Betsy Rue’s state of dress, or should that be undress.
Near the end of the commentary, Farmer gives a nod to the Supernatural fans and I can’t say more than that without giving away the movie.
For those who can’t get enough of Jensen Ackles, he also appears in several deleted or extended scenes on the DVD, pops up in a couple of shots on the gag reel and has a short interview in the behind the scenes featurette.
If you’re a Supernatural fan who’s afraid of slasher movies, buy My Bloody Valentine as a stepping stone to Jared’s Friday the 13th. Though the kills in Valentine are gruesome, you can see most of them coming so you’ll have time to hide your eyes. But the real saving grace is the fact that there is a mystery plot and a love triangle which add up to a good number of scenes where no one ends up bloody. Just be sure to watch during the day from a place where no one can walk up behind you.

the movie was good for a slasher flick, and I have my DVD on preorder, I’m surprisd that SN fans are mentioned, I mean yeah, we have a tendency to be precotious, but I’m guessing it’s a positive comment, and that is an awesome thing. He did make mention once in his blog during the filming that Jensen was something special and the fans need to make sure we watch out for him or something like that.
A shout out for Supernatural is never a bad thing!

Yeah Todd Farmer said some very complimentary things about Jensen on his blog while they were filming, both about his acting(which he was quite impressed with) and about him as a person, he said he was one of the “good ones” and was particularly impressed that Jensen went out of his way to come over and meet him.
aw, don’t leave us poor Supernatural fans hanging… we want to know what they’re saying about us! I remember reading Farmer’s blog and it was very complimentary to not only Jensen’s work but to Jensen as a person. I look forward to owning this DVD and enjoying all the behind-the-scenes reports. Thanks!
