Great great article and so relevant especially since I just saw the finale (OMFG. I got so mad that it was over I threw my hairclip at the stairs. Partly since it ended like Lost, other part was since I wanted to have moooore). I was so afraid going into the finale. I thought it might end up as dumb and groan-inducing as Heaven and Hell. Instead, it was all over heart-pounding.

But you are so right. The reason why I have fallen for and raved about Supernatural is not only its accessibility and bloody horror scenes but it's richness. Some people don't understand why people are all for this show. The just see the simple parts, the MOTW stories and the pretty boys. But that's not Supernatural. It's about the age old story of good and evil and how two brothers are intertwined with it.

I think the show should end the way Kripke wanted to end it. Sometimes shows drag on too long and they just collapse. Just leave the show perfect at Season 5 and I'll be satisfied.

Also, Jim Beaver for Season 5 regular. Same with Chuck the (amazing) prophet.

OMG, this article is totally amazing! You rock for writing this & I agree with every word. And I don't want to see the brothers separated for too long either. I'm glad Kripke sort of listens to us, at least it helps the show stay on. So excited and scared for the finale. Will miss the boys during the summer. I just hope that they don't break our hearts at the end of season 5. I want the show to end so that I can look back and be happy about the whole thing and giving 5 years of my life to Kripke!

Well i just find out some news for the anticipated season finale and i will tell you something that will not spoil your episode, but create a little more anticipation. A character seen in other episode will appear once again thanks to the help of bobby. A major character will die. Now for those like me who just cant wait for the episode, i shall tell you.

SPOILERS DO NOT SEE IF YOU WANT THE STORY SPOILED

I read this in IMDB and i found very exciting as it was obviously an incredible finally if the descriptions were as good as the given episode.

With Lilith on the verge of breaking the final seal, Bobby does the unthinkable and visits the crossroads to make a deal to bring back John Winchester. Armed with Ruby's knife he forces the unwilling deal maker to bring John back. Now, the three Winchester men along with Bobby and Ruby set out to stop the half pint demon once and for all. When Lilith surprises them with a resurrection of her own, Ruby visits the final resting place of Samuel Colt to even the odds. An all out battle ensues, the entire army of demons that was unleashed at the Devil's Gate appears, our little army appears to be defeated until Castiel returns with an army of his own to wage an epic war against evil, but will it be enough to stop Lucifer from joining in?

...oh yeah, I almost forgot.
Castiel pulled Dean from hell but in a way he also pulled Sam from hell as well when he opened the door and let him out of Bobby's basement.
Is there any symbolism in that?

Everybody is so sure that it is Sam vs Dean.

Maybe it's the power of Sam and Dean together that has both Heaven and Hell so upset and Cas just enabled them to be able to fight together.

Think about it. If not for Castiel one or the other would be out there fighting alone but because of his interference they are both free from any binding restraints other then their love for one another. Now they are free to fight the battle together regardless of whose side they appear to be on.

Another thought, what if Sam and Dean are working both sides jointly???
Was the fight last week real???
Remember when Dean told Cas he was dreaming and it was safe to talk to him but Cas refused because ANYBODY could be listening? If they wanted either or both sides to believe they were not working together that fight would have pretty clinched the deal.

Is it too soon to start a campaign to keep the show going beyond season five. Five just isn't enough!

And I agree completely. The show needs to take a breath and at least remember it's roots. Not that I would want a long running show of Dean and Sam just fighting monsters forever. It's great that the show seems to actually be going somewhere. Something you don't see too often on TV. But as the show is based loosely on 'real' folklore that dates back to before the time of man it seems as though Dean and Sam could certainly find a few more stumbling blocks in their way other then Liliath and Lucifer. It's a shame to think that the creative talents that have banded together to create a show that is actually worth watching would be willing to let it go so soon.

As for tonights show I am very excited, not because it's the finale but because it was written by the show's creator. Once again something we aren't allowed to see very often on television.
It will be a pleasure to watch the genius behind the genius at work.

Thank you for writing this. It's like you read my mind. I too am dreading this season finale. And of course the ensueing summer where Dean fans and Sam fans will bicker. I lov both boys but I do admit I'm a Dean girl and my mom who watches ith me is a Sam girl. So, it will be a tense night i my house.
But I must say, this season has be incredible. I have loved every mintue of it. And I love reading and discussing the episodes with others. I agree with the prespective that "“Supernatural” is a story about humanity trying to survive in a world of supernatural forces. While there are two sides (good/evil, heaven/hell), a more correct representation of those two sides is ." I coldn't have said it better myself.
So, to the amazing cast(Jensen, Jared, Jim, Misha) and crew and to Mr. Kripke, thank you for the all the hard work you do for this show, and the amazing stories you put on each week. I love this show!!

Can you please send a copy of this to Eric Kripke? I agree 100% that he should spend less time surfing the snake pits that exist online for this show and more time remembering what the show was about from the beginning - the brothers against the world of supernatural things.
One little quibble - I don't love Castiel and the fact that Misha is signed for fifth season gives me stomach pains - I don't want them to do angel vs demon all season long and the only way to avoid that since he is supposed to be in so many episodes is to have him fall from grace and become human and then it will be the Dean-Castiel show in many ways since he has A RELATIONSHIP with Dean and not Sam...sigh.. THAT is one show I don't want to see and won't be watching.

What an excellent exposition of how Supernatural has come around to this point in time. And I agree very muchly that those brothers need to find their way back to each other stat. That's what drew me in to this Supernatural web in the first place. Not how 'dark' Sam was going to go, not how desperate Dean was getting (they held a bit of intrigue but have taken the boys waaaay too far from one another) This show to me has always, first and foremost, been about the Winchester brothers fighting in this Supernatural World together - not at each others throats. Can we please start heading back in that direction before my heart breaks completely?

Yes, I am dreading the finale too. I will carefully read the reviews before I decide if to watch or not. If it turns out to be angel!Dean vs. demon!Sam, I'm walking for good. I didn't watch all of this season, because the brotherhood was barely there and if it's gone and one brother is the undeniable hero and the other is vilified, I'll feel cheated.

Robert Singer is right and Kripke needs to listen. This show's core is the brotherhood. If he forgets that, he's sold his soul along with the brothers.
