Dollhouse and Fringe on Fox in the Fall

May 18, 2009 by Cynthia

It’s upfront day and Fox has quite a few sci fi related doings on their 2009-2010 schedule. I’ll have more on the new shows Past Life and Human Target in just a bit, but first there’s this:

Fringe moved to Thursdays at 9:00!!

Supernatural just can’t get a break. First CSI, then Grey’s and now Fringe? I’d venture a guess that Fringe and Supernatural share a lot of the same audience, too. Luckily its a smart audience so we know how to record one and watch the other, but seriously, Thursday nights are way too tight.

Dollhouse is staying on Friday night but now it has two comedy shows as a lead-in. That’s poor planning. But what I find even funnier are the ratings notes Fox handed out to the press. After months of threatening to cancel the series due to poor ratings, they now say this:

– DOLLHOUSE ranks #1 in its Friday 9pm time period among Adults 18-34 and Men 18-34 and #2 with Adults 18-49, Adults 25-54, Women 18-34, and Men 18-49/25-54.
– DOLLHOUSE delivered FOX’s highest-rated Friday series premiere in over four years (since 1/14/05) among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
– DOLLHOUSE delivers an educated audience, surpassing its Total U.S Adults 18-49 average in “Adults 18-49 with 4+ Years of College.”
–  DOLLHOUSE averages a +40% increase from Live + Same Day to Live + 7 Day, making it the #1 most time-shifted show on network television.

To borrow from Weekend Update, REALLY?  The show you wanted to cancel so badly was #1 in it’s time period.  Really? The show that fans had to fight to keep on the air was the highest-rated Friday premiere in four years. Really? So exactly what was the problem then?  Cause, I’m confused.

On a very final and sad note, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is NOT on the schedule for next season. You win some, you lose some.

    i hate fox!!!! *pouts*

  2. I think they’re intentionaly keeping dollhouse in the friday death slot. It was just luck that it didn’t get cancelled and if they keep it at that slot it’ll surely get cancelled next year.
Though it got progresively better from episode 6 upwards so maybe more people will be watching it.

Well, that just stinks that Supernatural and Fringe are on at the same time. I will just have to tape Fringe because Supernatural is the best show on t.v regardless of what the ratings say. There is one time of the week you can be sure to find me: Thursdays in front of my t.v. watching Supernatural!

I’m sorry but I am WAY confused. Charlie on Fringe died twice didn’t he?? once as himself due to the “shape shifter”, swore I saw him dumped in a furnace. He again died as the shape shifter, I thought…. Then he’s is on season opening show on 1/11/10. Did I miss an episode where they went to an alternate universe and bring him back or something??? This is really annoying me, could ya help a gal out and “splain” it to me please.
