TV Week Unearths Zombie Pilot

July 13, 2009 by Cynthia

zombie-queenVampires. In my day, they’d suck you dry and turn you as fast as look at you. They were evil monsters who were the closest thing to the walking dead you were ever going to meet. But those days are gone. These days, vampires are the heroes, they drink synthetic blood and they sleep in refrigerators and some of them even make us laugh.

That’s why zombies are the new vampires. They’re dark, they’re scary and they’re pretty darn dead. With zombies moving to the forefront of monsterific romance novels, it’s only a matter of time before they make it to TV.

Oops, been there, done that and CBS passed. It was called Babylon Fields and it starred Amber Tamblyn and Kathy Baker as residents of a town overrun with zombies. TV Week unearthed their 2007 article on the subject, which you should go over and read, then start the video and brace yourself for the creepiest sound you’ve ever heard at the start of a TV show. It’s the unaired pilot for Babylon Fields.

  1. Renate says:

TV people should look at Laurell K. Hamilton’s idea of vampires & zombies. THe zombies can be intelligent but they still eat flesh. And the vampires can be evil or good, with a range of special abilites but they still drink blood (from volunteers usually but not always). Not sure what they’d do with the -um- racier bits!

  2. Everyone knows that zombies and vampires sell books, movies, and television series. With that being said, is amazing that authors continue to their twists to the basic to what zombies and vampires are and what they do.Check out my first and recently released novel, Long Journey to Rneadal. This exciting tale is a romantic action adventure in space and is more about the characters than the technology.
