Syfy Announces Fall Schedule

July 20, 2009 by Cynthia

syfy_imagination_parkSyfy has announced their fall premiere dates including the start of the much-anticipated series Stargate Universe. The latest Stargate spin-off will launch on October 2 at 9:00 with a 2-hour event, then will continue to air Fridays at 9:00 beginning October 9.

Robert Carlyle (Trainspotting, The Full Monty), Lou Diamond Phillips (Numb3rs), Ming-Na (ER, Vanished), Alaina Huffman (Smallville), and David Blue (Moonlight) star in this series about a group of soldiers, scientists and civilians, who are forced through a Stargate when their hidden base comes under attack. Instead of coming through on another planet, they find themselves on the starship Destiny which is locked on an unknown course. Hopelessly lost in space (I couldn’t resist) they must find a way to meet their basic needs such as food and water, all the while battling weekly dangers.

And, despite the fact that they’re trapped on a ship in space, they will still run into guest stars such as Grammy nominated recording artist, Janelle Monáe, Amanda Tapping, Michael Shanks, and Carlo Rota. Sounds rather Gilligan’s Island, doesn’t it?

And speaking of Amanda Tapping, Sanctuary returns for a second season beginning on October 9 at 10:00. Here’s the blurb:

Sanctuary follows the adventures of the always surprising Dr. Helen Magnus (Amanda Tapping), a brilliant scientist who holds the secrets of a clandestine population — a group of strange and sometimes terrifying beings that hide among humans.

Joining the cast in season 2 is Agam Darshi as Kate Freelander, a con artist and thief who finds herself in an uneasy alliance with Dr. Magnus. Sanctuary also stars Ryan Robbins as tech wiz Henry and Christopher Heyerdahl as the sinister John Druitt.

Special guest stars this season include Christopher Gauthier (Eureka) and Michael Shanks (Stargate SG-1).

Scare Tactics and Destination Truth will also return this fall along with more new episodes of  Warehouse 13 on Tuesday nights and Ghost Hunters on Wednesday nights. In October, music superstar and longtime Ghost Hunters fan Meatloaf will join the team as a guest investigator in a special episode featuring a home in Thousand Islands, NY, one of last year’s finalist locales in the Great American Ghost Hunt contest.

    Syfy please bring back Primeval!!!!!!!

  2. M7 says:

Sorry Bob…Primeval was produced by ITV(I believe that’s the one) and they are not bringing it back. Neither SyFy nor BBC America(where I think I heard it was their number one program) took over production…so your out of luck…unless you want to wait for the American made movie version. I think WB has the movie rights. I agree with your enthusiasm though…it was easily one of the best programs on the air.

As for SyFy’s lineup…I was a fan of BSG but never really got into Stargate or any of the other shows on Syfy(except BSG). I know that they’ve taken some flak for Stargate Universe looking too much like BSG but as a fan of BSG and not of Stargate…I will be one to give this show a chance…yes…just because it does remind me of BSG. And I mean more than just the storyline… it looked like it was quality (at least from the trailer)…much like BSG was. I hope that truly turns out to be the case and that along with Caprica that SyFy can build it’s network the right way..because honestly BBC America has been kicking SyFy’s butt recently with Primeval, Torchwood, Doctor Who, and Being Human.

I also must say that I have been pleasantly surprised at Warehouse 13. It’s not really deep by any means but the storyline is interesting and the acting has been very good.

Why didn’t Moonlight make the Fall line up on SYFY?

  4. Lauri says:

I second that… why didn’t Moonlight make the Fall line up on SYFY??? I don’t watch much TV these days but was hooked after just one episode that I happen to catch one Friday night.

  5. Bruce says:

Is ” The Fall” the story of the cylon side of BSG still slated to be on? When?

  6. Melissa says:

Moonlight did not make the lineup because only 1 season ran on the major network; therefore, there are no more episodes to air. Sad, huh? But Alex O’Loughlin will be in another program on CBS called Three Rivers, if he floats your boat.

And I completly agree – BBC America is producing some great scifi shows. Really love them! I thought that Being Human would be cheesy, but I’m totally addicted!!

  7. Suilebhain says:

Stargate Universe was a dog. What a contrived piece of drek! We have this guy, but we can’t afford to pay him for the season, so we make him really obnoxious and kill him off in a pointless yet heroic manner (Christopher McDonald). We have this total nebbish who always has something stupid to say (Blue). We have this scientist who we don’t trust so we will threaten his life over and over and over during the two painful hours of the pilot (Robert Carlyle, whose talent absolutely wasted on this show). We have two hours of posturing and running back and forth, lots of arguing, and borderline bad acting.

The whole thing reminds me of that other piece of frelling drek – Lost. Only its in space. Lost. In Space. Lost In Space! Ahh, that’s why we don’t trust the scientist, no matter what he does! He’s Doctor Smith!

Bleh. And for this we get no more Dresden Files? What a waste “Sy Fy” has become under its current administration. If not for Eureka, Warehouse 13 – oops, that’s right. Their short season has ended. Well, if not for Sanctuary, then, I wouldn’t even turn the station on.

  8. Betty Hatcher says:

I’ve been looking for “Lost”. Why did you drop it and when will it be back? Please bring it back soon.
    Betty

  9. audrey bennett says:

Do not like your line-up with all bloodie stories i like real space story i can watch bloodie and horror story on any station want real scifi

  10. CANDY HALE says:
