Win a Collection of British Scifi Books
December 5, 2009 by Cynthia
In honor of David Tennant’s retirement from Who-ville, and John Barrowman saying he’ll be returning to Torchwood, I’m offering up a set of British scifi books to one lucky winner.
Here’s what’s included:
The Eclectic Gypsy by Dave Thompson which takes you through the history of Doctor Who in a very unusual way.
Next we have two Primeval novels – Shadow of the Jaguar by Steven Saville (my personal favorite) and The Lost Island by Paul Kearney.
Plus three Torchwood novels – Slow Decay by Andy Lane, Border Princes by Dan Abnett and Another Life by Peter Anghelides.
It’s a fun collection of books for Brit scifi fans from three of my favorite shows. Want to win? Leave a comment on this post preferably with the title of your favorite TV Tie-in book.
US only please.
Deadline to enter is December 11, 2009 at midnight PST.
This is a hefty lot of books so it will be sent media mail, thus I can’t promise delivery in time for the holidays in case you were planning to share.

To be honest I have not purchased any of the books on your giveaway list, being a new viewer to BBC America I’m playing catch-up as quickly as possible. The only books I have read that have a TV tie-in are “The Dresden Files”, only one season but I really loved that series…thanks to Jim Butcher the author…Harry continues on the page with no special effects needed.
I would love to be chosen to win your books but if luck doesn’t swing my way…I have have a new shopping list the next time I’m at the book store.
Sincerely,
tk Jenkins
In another life John Barrowman will be straight and mine. For today I will long for my First Doctor, the Tenth Doctor and dread with great angst his departure. Your books will ease my suffering.
I already have the Torchwood books, so you don’t have to enter me in your drawing. But I thought I’d tell you my favorite tie-in books anyway! I loved the Buffy/Angel tie-in book “Monster Island.” It was a terrific original novel, and I loved reading about Buffy and Angel working together again. I’ve read all the Buffy/Angel crossover books as well as the Angel original novels. The Roswell novels as good too, and all the Torchwood books are worth checking out.
I am a huge fan of both Doctor Who and Torchwood. I found a couple of the Torchwood novels when our local library had a book sale and so I bought Bay of The Dead and The House that Jack Built. I liked Bay of the Dead the best,it actually caused me to laugh out loud in a couple of places which I rarely do when readin anymore. It was beautifuly written and I have told all of my friends and family to be on the lookout for more novels for me.I am diasabled and on a fixed income so buying new is out of the question. I appreciate the chance to be entered into your giveaway. And David Tennant will be missed, he was in a word,Brillant!
I did not realize that there were tie-in books.
Fantastic — three of my favorite shows!
Oh, I’d so love to win these! I’m just a poor student who has no money! I’m a Torchwwod & Doctor Who addict ;p Love the novels!
As an American viewer, I often miss out on a lot of the little extras and, in fact, didn’t even know about (new) Doctor Who or Torchwood until a friend brought them to light for me. And now where am I? Just finishing an academic paper on Torchwood fan fiction. It’s an amazing world, and one in which I’d very much like to win free books.
I’ve read a few of the Torchwood tie-in books, and some of them are actually quite good. “Almost Perfect” is probably my favorite, because girl!Ianto, and Jack and Gwen’s subsequent reaction to him/her will never get old, haha. The Gwen/Rhys in it was cute as well. I love books where you can choose whether or not to adopt it as canon, because there’s not many things like that in TV shows that you can pick and choose with. :]
I don’t read many TV tie in books, but my favourite would have to be one of the Star Trek tie-in novels. Probably “The Kobayashi Maru” by Julia Ecklar, for one of the best ‘explanations’ for how Kirk beat the test (much better than what they came up with for the movie).
I keep meaning to pick up the Torchwood novels every time I see them on the shelf in a bookstore (they’re so slick looking!) but just haven’t gotten around to them yet!
I think my favorite TV tie in is _Chosen_, witch retells the big points from Season 7 of Buffy.
I think my favorite tie-ins will always be the Virgin New Adventures of Doctor Who. Really added depth to the show for me, especially to the seventh Doctor.
Oo, I’ve been meaning to buy some of the Torchwood tie-in novels for a long time, I’d love to win them!
tk Jenkins is the winner!
Thanks to everyone who participated.
Cynthia,
