Looking Into the Future of SciFi on TV

READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!

At the end of every calendar year, most people take the opportunity to look back but I’ve decided to use this as a chance to look forward. I pulled out my crystal ball and set the dial for 2025. First off, don’t worry about that whole 2012 thing – we make it out okay.

Now here’s a look at the scifi shows that will be airing in the 2025-2026 season.

After covering every major city on the Earth, Jerry Bruckheimer gives us a look at some out of this world police work on CSI: Mars and I promise you, the lead detective won’t need sunglasses.

Ronald D. Moore is planning a pre-pre-pre-pre-quel to Battlestar Galactica where Starbuck is still a guy.

The Simpsons has a very special “Treehouse of Horrors” planned for 2025. CLICK HERE TO SEE WHAT USED TO OCCUPY THIS SPACE.

Eliza Dushku and Nathan Fillion have teamed up to produce Joss Whedon’s Houseparty, a celebrity game show that has actors from the Whedonverse playing Shakespearean charades for cash and prizes. (And before I hear it from Joss’ camp – this is a JOKE based on something Nathan Fillion once mentioned to me.)

Continuing with the trend that began with Matt Smith in 2010, Dr. Who will regenerate once again and this time he’ll be played by the 5-year-old great-grandson of Billie Piper.

And finally, young people in 2025 can’t stop talking about this new TV series called Star Trek which is based on that old movie from 2009. How original.

And speaking of “original,” what scifi series would you like to see them remake in the far or near future and which classics should be left alone?

Man, that Simpson episode would be so awesome! With Impala of course!

I think they will have exploited every game, comic, manga, book etc. possible. I can even see reboot, remake, sequel and prequel being separate categories at the emmys and Oscars. ;D

I really wish they would be at least a ten year rule before you can reboot, remake or prequel anything.

That Simpsons episode would be SO epic if jared and jensen were to ever do it. (also the ghost hunters ♥)

Knowing that Jensen and Jared would be making a guest appearance on The Simpsons is the only way you’d get me to watch it.Too bad it’s still 15 years away.

The Simpsons has a very special “Treehouse of Horrors” planned for this year. It will feature the voices of Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki and the guys from Ghost Hunters.

Comic Book Guy would say BEST. NEWS. EVER. !!!!!!!!

I’d love to see Supernatural on the Simpson! I SO SO SO want this!!!

  6. Alli Malone says:

I would love to see “Firefly” again. Even though “Serenity” was supposed to appease the fans, many story lines were left unfinished. Ron Glass is a wonderful actor (loved him in “Barney Miller”) and we could handle flashbacks with him in them (just so we could learn why a preacher knew so much about crime).

  1. [...] Yesterday, I posted a short, funny (or so I thought) piece about what would be on TV in the year 202… figured instead of looking back as most people do this time of year, I’d look into the future. I used my CRYSTAL BALL to see CSI: Mars, a 5-year old Doctor Who and Jensen and Jared on the Simpsons (NOT!). [...]
