Comic Con Gets Dollhouse Exclusive
July 6, 2009 by Cynthia
One of the things people love about Comic Con is the wealth of exclusives and promos that are offered to those who can attend (or have someone attend for them!) This year, 20th Century Fox is making a huge splash with a limited edition Dollhouse DVD that comes with a personal letter to the fans from Joss Whedon.
The DVDs will come in exclusive Comic Con packaging and each will be numbered. Only 5000 (2500 Blu-ray/2500 DVD) copies were created and they must be picked up at the Fox Booth at the event.
There will be a limited quantity on sale at the con, but if you want one you better hit FoxStore.com TODAY to pre-order your copy. Remember that photo ID will be required at the time of pick-up or purchasers must designate at checkout someone who will pick-up the DVD on their behalf.
The “Dollhouse” Season One Comic-Con Blu-ray Disc will be available for a suggested retail price of $69.99 and the DVD will be available for $49.98. Regular versions of “Dollhouse” Season One BD and DVD will be available everywhere July 28.

Monsters Invade Roswell
July 6, 2009 by Cynthia
Everyone knows that Roswell is the favorite vacation spot for aliens and monsters from all over the universe. So it was no surprise that the stars of DreamWorks’ Monsters vs Aliens stopped by to celebrate their DVD release this past weekend.
Gotta cultivate those new sci fi fans while they’re young and these kids look very alien friendly!
Monsters vs. Aliens, the DVD, will arrive on Earth September 29, 2009 and will include the world premiere of the brand new 3D adventure B.O.B.’s Big Break, starring everyone’s favorite gelatinous hero.

Farscape Comes to DVD
July 3, 2009 by Cynthia
Muppets. . . In. . . Space. . . .space. . space. . space. . Okay, so there are also a few humans on board like Stargate stars Ben Browder and Claudia Black, but Farscape will always mean Muppets to me and now it’s going to be a mega DVD.
Farscape ran on SCI FI Channel from 1999-2003 and it developed quite a fan following. The series revolved around a lone astronaut (Browder) who falls through a wormhole and lands in the middle of an intergalactic war. Produced by the Jim Henson Company, the show had two animatronic puppets in the main cast as well as several humans in alien garb, also designed by the talented people at Henson’s Creature Shop.
In honor of the 10th Anniversary of the series, A&E Home Entertainment is releasing Farscape: The Complete Series Megaset. The DVD package will include the entire sereis run along with an amazing amount of bonus features including commentary, interviews, and behind-the-scenes featurettes. They’ll be jump-starting the promotional efforts with a Farscape panel at this year’s Comic Con which will include executive producer Brain Henson, creator Rockne O’Bannon, and stars Ben Browder and Claudia Black.
The DVD release is scheduled for November 2009 and remember, “you gotta know how deep the doo-doo is, if you’re gonna dig your way out.”

Could There Be a Season Six for Supernatural?
June 3, 2009 by Cynthia
As Warner Brothers officially announces the release date of Season Four on DVD, the Internet is a buzz about the idea of a Season Six for Supernatural.
At last week’s Supernatural convention in the UK, Jared Padalecki was quoted as saying that he and co-star Jensen Ackles both had six year contracts. Where creator Eric Kripke was only signed for five. This has always been the case, but a half a year ago Jared and Jensen were both leaning heavily on the idea that they’d be leaving when Kripke left — at the end of year five.
Today, TVGuide’s Matt Mitovich addressed the question in his column saying that CW boss Dawn Ostroff might “override” the five year plan and extend the show if the ratings keep going through the roof as they did this past year.
Ghostbusters Is Hiring
May 27, 2009 by Cynthia
Ever since those Winchester boys opened the gates of hell, it’s been a paranormal paradise here on Earth. And who do people call when they’ve got spirit problems? Ghostbusters, of course. Trouble is, there’s simply too much work for the guys to handle alone so they’ve decided to hire on some extra help. That’s where you come in.
The Ghostbusters are hiring and they’ve set up a new website where they’re taking applications. It’s called, (appropriately) GhostbustersIsHiring.com. Egon Spengler is still putting the finishing touches on the site, but when it’s done you’ll be able to upload your own ghostbusting photos and videos. The best Ghostbusters applicants will appear on the Blu-Ray Live special feature on the new Ghostbusters Blu-Ray DVD. And one lucky applicant will win a trip to Comic-Con – a place that is simply overflowing with the creepy, the spooky and the ookey!
Who you gonna call? Win this contest and the answer could be YOU!

A Galaxy Far Far Away: 10 Years Later
May 16, 2009 by Cynthia
Can you believe it’s been ten years since the release of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Meance? It seems like only yesterday that I was sitting in the audience watching. . . . hmmm. . . maybe I shouldn’t say. You know a lady never reveals her age.
It’s also been ten years since the release of the original Star Wars fandom documentary, A Galaxy Far Far Away. Back in 1999, filmmaker Tariqu Jalil decided to take his camera along on an exploration of the Star Wars phenomena. He hung out with fans who camped for more than a month outside of Grauman’s Chinese Theater, captured the frenzy of the new action figure releases at Toys R Us and he profiled those that saw Star Wars as a way of life. He cut this all together with celebrity interviews and other madness to form an 80 minute pop culture documentary that was called “incredibly clever” by Fim Threat.
Me? I say, not so much.

MBV’s Supernatural Shout Outs
May 11, 2009 by Cynthia
Not only does My Bloody Valentine 3-D star Jensen Ackles from Supernatural, but did you know that even Jared and Supernatural fans get a mention, too! It’s all part of the commentary track that you’ll find on the new DVD release which hits shelves on May 19.
Director Patrick Lussier and writer Todd Farmer have a congenial chat as they watch the film, doling out great behind the scenes stories and cluing you in on some of the things you may have missed. Ackles fans will get a particular kick out of Lussier’s observations about the talented actor, whom he thinks will make a fine director one day. Farmer seems more interested in how “dreamy” Jensen is and he won’t get any arguement from me on that point.
Star Trek Con Coverage Now on BD-Live
May 1, 2009 by Cynthia
Let me see if I’ve got this right. CBS Home Entertainment tells me, if you own the new Star Trek: The Original Series Blu-Ray DVD (which streeted on April 28, 2009), you can use that disc right now to access a daily feed from FEDCON, Europe’s largest Star Trek Convention.
More than 5,000 fans will get together in Bonn, Germany to celebrate their favorite series over the weekend and you can join them virtually. Apparently, all you have to do is sign up for BD-Live over at CBS, then insert your Blu-Ray discs into your computer and you’ll be granted access to all sorts of FEDCON goodies including exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, talent interviews with Star Trek stars such as Nichelle Nichols and more.
How cool is that? I don’t have a Blu-Ray player (yet!) so if you do and you’ve got the new Star Trek: The Original Series DVD, try this out and then come and tell us about it. The FEDCON feed is only available from now until May 3, so don’t miss it!
