Comic Con Gets Dollhouse Exclusive

July 6, 2009 by Cynthia

dollhouse_comiccon_bluray_w3One of the things people love about Comic Con is the wealth of exclusives and promos that are offered to those who can attend (or have someone attend for them!) This year, 20th Century Fox is making a huge splash with a limited edition Dollhouse DVD that comes with a personal letter to the fans from Joss Whedon.

The DVDs will come in exclusive Comic Con packaging and each will be numbered. Only 5000 (2500 Blu-ray/2500 DVD) copies were created and they must be picked up at the Fox Booth at the event.

There will be a limited quantity on sale at the con, but if you want one you better hit FoxStore.com TODAY to pre-order your copy. Remember that photo ID will be required at the time of pick-up or purchasers must designate at checkout someone who will pick-up the DVD on their behalf.

The “Dollhouse” Season One Comic-Con Blu-ray Disc will be available for a suggested retail price of $69.99 and the DVD will be available for $49.98. Regular versions of “Dollhouse” Season One BD and DVD will be available everywhere July 28.

Monsters Invade Roswell

July 6, 2009 by Cynthia

monsters_aliens_1Everyone knows that Roswell is the favorite vacation spot for aliens and monsters from all over the universe. So it was no surprise that the stars of DreamWorks’ Monsters vs Aliens stopped by to celebrate their DVD release this past weekend.

Gotta cultivate those new sci fi fans while they’re young and these kids look very alien friendly!

Monsters vs. Aliens, the DVD, will arrive on Earth September 29, 2009 and will include the world premiere of the brand new 3D adventure B.O.B.’s Big Break, starring everyone’s favorite gelatinous hero.

Syfy Announces Their Comic Con Schedule

June 30, 2009 by Cynthia

eureka_cafeMaking the brand change from SCI FI to Syfy, the (insert name here) channel promises a big show at this year’s San Diego Comic Con. In addition to the usual panels, they’ll be taking over the restaurant at the Hard Rock Hotel, and re-branding it as Eureka’s “Cafe Diem” for the duration of the convention. This will act as their convention hub and I imagine that will mean lots of goodies and fun for everyone who stops by. (SCI FI Channel Photo: Liane Hentscher)

They have some great guests and lots of sneak peeks at many of their new TV shows.

Also note that the Sanctuary panel is listed as being at the Bayside Hilton — leading me to wonder if more of the events are going to be held off site to reduce crowding. Nice idea, but getting from there to the Warehouse 13 panel that follows is going to be a nightmare.

Here’s the full listing:

Warner Brothers Announces Comic Con Panels

June 25, 2009 by Cynthia

comic conWarner Brothers Television has more than their share of genre shows this year, so they’ll be hitting Comic Con with eleven panels! They’re offering up some great previews, great guests — but so far there are two VERY noticeable names missing from this list — Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. According to the press release, Misha Collins and Jim Beaver will be representing Supernatural. Not that we don’t love those guys, but seeing as this might be their final year at the con, I can’t believe we won’t be seeing the two leads.

Now, before anyone gets violent, schedules do change and it’s possible that the boys might end up as last minute additions. That certainly was the case the past few years where the panel roster changed up to minutes before it was scheduled to begin. So keep your fingers crossed for Winchesters at Comic Con this year.

To keep up with the changes, subcribe to the Warner Brothers Twitter @TheWBdotcom and look for their Con-related website at TheWB.com/ComicCon, coming in July.

With that out of the way, here’s a rundown on all of the Warner Brothers panels and guests.

The Guests:

“The Big Bang Theory”: Johnny Galecki (”Roseanne”), Jim Parsons (”Garden State”), Kaley Cuoco (”Charmed”), executive producer Chuck Lorre (”Two and a Half Men”) and more

“Chuck”: Zachary Levi (upcoming “Alvin and the Chipmunks”), Yvonne Strahovski (upcoming “I Love You Too”), executive producer Josh Schwartz (”Gossip Girl”) and more

“Eastwick”: Rebecca Romijn (”X-Men”), Lindsay Price (”Lipstick Jungle”), Jaime Ray Newman (”Veronica Mars”) and more

“Fringe”: Anna Torv (”The Pacific”), Josh Jackson (”Shutter”), John Noble (”The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”) and more

June 25, 2009 by Cynthia

Twentieth Century Fox has announced their line-up of panels for the San Diego Comic Con. It’s an interesting mix of scifi and non-genre shows, though even some of those shows have scifi favorites in the mix, so it’s all good.

FRIDAY, JULY 24:

Coming off its most critically acclaimed season in years, 24 stars Kiefer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub and new cast members Anil Kapoor, Freddie Prinze, Jr. and Katee Sackhoff join showrunnner Howard Gordon and the producers of the Emmy-winning series for a special sneak peek at the heart-stopping premiere episode of Season 8. Ballroom 20.

3-3:45 P.M. Bones showrunner Hart Hanson and stars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel are on hand for a discussion of what’s on deck for Booth and Brennan, hot on the heels of this year’s much talked-about season finale in which the pair finally wound up between the sheets. Ballroom 20.

dollhouse_bts_0019_f4 P.M-6 P.M. Join Dollhouse creator Joss Whedon and star/producer Eliza Dushku for a no-holds-barred Q & A about what they have planned for season 2, after they unveil a special screening of the NEVER BEFORE SEEN “Epitaph One” episode of the Fox hit which releases on DVD just four days later. Bye Bye SCI FI

June 22, 2009 by Cynthia

This week SCI FI Channel begins their big SyFy rebranding push and that means prizes and freebies from coast to coast.

The two biggest pushes will be in Manhattan and at the San Diego Comic Con.

syfy_brandFor the next year, folks at Union Station and Times Square will be given free WyFy from SyFy. Rockefellar Center will be the home of the new interactive Imagination Park and SyFy will sponsor a Tim Burton retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in November.

SyFy also promises to have a larger presence at Comic Con this year, which I imagine will lead to some fabulour giveaways. They’ve always been generous with the goodies, so I can’t wait to see what they have this time around. The SCI FI booth at Comic Con is designed to allow people to sit on it and I hope that doesn’t change as it’s the best place to perch when you can’t take another step on that showroom floor.
