Presenting: Laguerra de las Galaxias

Here in California we go all out for the celebration of Cinco de Mayo. For me, Cinco de Mayo means mariachi bands, cold margaritas, and Star Wars in Spanish. So I’m saying thank you, boy, to Lucas Film and Cartoon Network for making my holiday complete.
Starting on May 1, you can watch Star Wars: The Clone Wars in Spanish over at StarWars.com. This marks the first time these shows will be broadcast in a foreign language online and we say, hooray and ole!
Can Caprica "Franchise" Battlestar Galactica?
This has all happened before. And it will all happen again. That’s not just the mythology behind Battlestar Galactica, it’s what the newly christened Syfy hopes will take place where prequel Caprica is concerned.
Faced with a hole in its lineup larger than the one Boomer created when she jumped near the ship, the cable channel took a predictable step toward filling it. No show garnered more buzz, earned more pop culture resonance and became more identifiable as Sci Fi Channel programming than BSG.
Clone Wars Decoded Comes to Cartoon Network
April 8, 2009 by Cynthia
Reruns of your favorite show aren’t all that fun and exciting, right? Well, Cartoon Network is out to change that. They found a way to turn Star Wars: The Clone Wars reruns into a fresh, new series. It’s called Clone Wars: Decoded and it’s Pop-Up Video LucasFilm style.
Starting on May 1, Cartoon Network will air what they’re calling “enhanced” episodes of Clone Wars. What it is is a text box overlay that will give you a running commentary of trivia, behind the scenes notes and production facts as you watch the episode. Every episode of the show’s first season has been annotated and that will take you right up to the premiere of the second season in the fall.

Tonight on Clone Wars: Hostage Crisis
Star Wars: The Clone Wars “Hostage Crisis”
Air Date: March 20 on Cartoon Network.
Our heroes will need all the help they can get when a new threat, lethal mercenary Cad Bane gets in their way in tonight’s season finale.
Count Dooku seeks to spring a Separatist prisoner from Republic captivity, but his profile prevents him from getting close enough to set in motion his malevolent plan. Enter Cad Bane, the galaxy’s most fearsome bounty hunter, as ruthless as he is deadly. He is quintessentially cold, cruel and calculating - and when the price is right, he can’t be stopped. Backed by Dooku and the Separatists, he’s bringing his unique skill set and impressive arsenal to bear against the very heart of the Republic. Bane brazenly brings the fight to the Senate’s doorstep, with a rogues gallery of galactic scum as his allies.
“This episode gave us the chance to do something totally different, to go in a new direction with the series,” says supervising director Dave Filoni. “We’ve seen the good guys and the bad guys, from the top of the food chain to the cannon fodder on the front lines. Now we get to look at some of the opportunists, at the mercenaries operating without a side. It’s a whole new dynamic we haven’t seen yet, and at the same time it’s very Star Wars.”
Tonight on Clone Wars: Liberty on Ryloth
Star Wars The Clone Wars: Liberty on Ryloth
Air Date: Friday, March 13 on Cartoon Network
The third and final chapter of the Ryloth saga brings Jedi Master Mace Windu to the Separatist-occupied planet for the crucial final stages of the peacekeeping effort. With Republic forces stretched thin, Mace must convince the beleaguered people of Ryloth to rise up and join him in repelling the droid army. But the Twi’lek freedom fighters are wary of intervention from outside of their race, and are hesitant to trust the Jedi’s efforts. With the liberation of the planet at stake, time is of the essence and Mace must rally the natives for their final stand against the Separatist invaders.
With a story developed alongside creator George Lucas and supervising director Dave Filoni, the episode reflects some of the untold stories that necessarily unfold when the canvas is as expansive as a galactic war. Director Rob Coleman and writer Henry Gilroy were intrigued with the prospect of exploring the viewpoint of the conflict’s non-military combatants – particularly with regard to their dealings with the Jedi.
Tonight on Clone Wars: Innocents of Ryloth
Star Wars: The Clone Wars — “Innocents of Ryloth”
Air Date: March 6 on Cartoon Network
The second in a three-part saga chronicling the liberation of a Separatist-held planet, “Innocents of Ryloth” looks at the civilians caught in the crossfire of the sweeping galactic conflict. When Obi-Wan Kenobi and his clones are sent to the surface to sabotage a powerful Separatist weapon, they encounter heavy resistance from the droid army - but they also come face to face with the humanity of those that they are sent to protect. Seeing the “human” side of the occupation helps to give the clones a new perspective on the war.
Tonight on Clone Wars: Storm Over Ryloth
Star Wars: The Clone Wars — “Storm Over Ryloth”
Air Date: February 27 on Cartoon Network
In this first part of an epic, three part story arc, the heroes of the Republic begin their campaign to free the planet Ryloth from the oppressive occupation of enemy forces. In an effort to break through the orbiting Separatist defenses, however, Ahsoka must learn a hard-hitting lesson after she disobeys Anakin’s orders - and loses most of her squadron as a result.
Tonight on Clone Wars: Ambush
February 20, 2009 by Cynthia
Tonight is a repeat of a fan favorite - Ambush on Star Wars: Clone Wars. This was the second most watched episode of the series on Cartoon Network, and maybe that’s because it features Yoda so prominently.
“Yoda is such an important icon in the Star Wars universe, and the importance of doing right by him – and the fans – was not lost on us,” says supervising director Dave Filoni.
“There were heavy expectations going into this series, and since he played such an integral role in the launch episode, Yoda had to carry the weight of those expectations on his little shoulders. Of course, if he’s taught us anything, though, it’s that size matters not.”
Tonight on Clone Wars: A Double Feature
February 13, 2009 by Cynthia
In honor of Star Wars: The Clone Wars getting picked up for a second season, Cartoon Network is offering a double feature: “Blue Shadow Virus” and “Mystery of A Thousand Moons.”
First, in “Blue Shadow Virus,” Padmé Amidala is captured while searching for a secret Separatist bio-weapons lab run by Dr. Nuvo Vindi (portrayed by science-fiction icon Michael York), a scientist as cold and calculating as he is evil. While they manage to find the mad doctor and uncover his scheme, they are too late to prevent the release of his deadly concoction – leaving Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi just 48 hours to find the elusive antidote in “Mystery of a Thousand Moons.”
Best known for his role in 1975’s Logan’s Run, York brings a sense of manic enthusiasm and righteous fervor to the role of Dr. Vindi.
