Dollhouse: Epitaph One Clip
July 9, 2009 by Cynthia
If you’re a Dollhouse fan, you’ve undoubtedly heard about that mysterious 13th episode called “Epitaph One.” This stand alone episode was never aired but it is included on the Season One DVD which comes out on July 28th.
Want to see a clip? It’s all about the lovely Amy Acker as her more “active” self.
Comic Con Gets Dollhouse Exclusive
One of the things people love about Comic Con is the wealth of exclusives and promos that are offered to those who can attend (or have someone attend for them!) This year, 20th Century Fox is making a huge splash with a limited edition Dollhouse DVD that comes with a personal letter to the fans from Joss Whedon.
The DVDs will come in exclusive Comic Con packaging and each will be numbered. Only 5000 (2500 Blu-ray/2500 DVD) copies were created and they must be picked up at the Fox Booth at the event.
There will be a limited quantity on sale at the con, but if you want one you better hit FoxStore.com TODAY to pre-order your copy. Remember that photo ID will be required at the time of pick-up or purchasers must designate at checkout someone who will pick-up the DVD on their behalf.
The “Dollhouse” Season One Comic-Con Blu-ray Disc will be available for a suggested retail price of $69.99 and the DVD will be available for $49.98. Regular versions of “Dollhouse” Season One BD and DVD will be available everywhere July 28.

Fox Announces Comic-Con Panels
June 25, 2009 by Cynthia
Twentieth Century Fox has announced their line-up of panels for the San Diego Comic Con. It’s an interesting mix of scifi and non-genre shows, though even some of those shows have scifi favorites in the mix, so it’s all good.
FRIDAY, JULY 24:
2:15-3:00 P.M. Coming off its most critically acclaimed season in years, 24 stars Kiefer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub and new cast members Anil Kapoor, Freddie Prinze, Jr. and Katee Sackhoff join showrunnner Howard Gordon and the producers of the Emmy-winning series for a special sneak peek at the heart-stopping premiere episode of Season 8. Ballroom 20.
3-3:45 P.M. Bones showrunner Hart Hanson and stars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel are on hand for a discussion of what’s on deck for Booth and Brennan, hot on the heels of this year’s much talked-about season finale in which the pair finally wound up between the sheets. Ballroom 20.
4 P.M-6 P.M. Join Dollhouse creator Joss Whedon and star/producer Eliza Dushku for a no-holds-barred Q & A about what they have planned for season 2, after they unveil a special screening of the NEVER BEFORE SEEN “Epitaph One” episode of the Fox hit which releases on DVD just four days later. Dollhouse, Fringe Get Premiere Dates
June 15, 2009 by Cynthia
Fox has announced the premiere dates for their fall shows including Fringe and Dollhouse. Fringe is looking good on Thursdays after Bones — even though it puts them in direct competition with Supernatural.
Dollhouse, however, keeps the Friday at 9:00 slot (which I believe will put it up against Medium on CBS) but running after an hour comedy block. Very strange programming choice but I guess its the best Fox could do given the limited amount of genre shows on the network this coming year.
Thursday, Sept. 17
8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT BONES (Season Premiere)
9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT FRINGE (Season Premiere)
Friday, Sept. 18
8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT BROTHERS (Series Premiere)
8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT ‘TIL DEATH (Season Premiere)
9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT DOLLHOUSE (Season Premiere)

SciFi Sunday Roundup: Torchwood, Dollhouse, Firefly
June 14, 2009 by Cynthia
Here’s a look at some interesting scifi stories from around the web:
Davies says Torchwood’s season four is ready to go
Torchwood creator and executive producer Russell T. Davies told the British press Friday that the fourth season of the sci-fi show is ready and waiting, depending on how the show’s third mini-season (”Children of Earth”) performs.

Joss Whedon on Dollhouse
Whedon says. “Really, just every meeting is like, ‘What’s the most fun we can have with this actor?’ about the whole cast. All I can say — ’cause I’m gonna be Mr. Un-Spoiler — is that we’re having a crazy amount of fun, and usually, that tends to translate onto the screen.”

Would FOX or NBC Be Willing To Bring It Back?
Yes. I think from my talks with the people running FOX that they would bring it back under the right circumstances. However, you must understand that right now Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin, Morena Baccarin, and Alan Tudyk (plus he was killed in SERENITY) all have gigs for the foreseeable future. However don’t underestimate the power of a movie.

Fringe Folks Pop Up at Fox Upfront Reception
May 19, 2009 by Cynthia
Yesterday, Fox had an Upfront Pre-Reception at Seppis in New York City and the stars of Fringe stopped by to chat up the advertisers and pose for pics. Mark Valley looks like he’s being guarded by the Secret Service and how cute is Jasika Nicole in that polka dot dress? And keep your eyes open for one non-Fringe special guest.
Dollhouse and Fringe on Fox in the Fall
May 18, 2009 by Cynthia
It’s upfront day and Fox has quite a few sci fi related doings on their 2009-2010 schedule. I’ll have more on the new shows Past Life and Human Target in just a bit, but first there’s this:
Fringe moved to Thursdays at 9:00!!
Supernatural just can’t get a break. First CSI, then Grey’s and now Fringe? I’d venture a guess that Fringe and Supernatural share a lot of the same audience, too. Luckily its a smart audience so we know how to record one and watch the other, but seriously, Thursday nights are way too tight.
Dollhouse is staying on Friday night but now it has two comedy shows as a lead-in. That’s poor planning. But what I find even funnier are the ratings notes Fox handed out to the press. After months of threatening to cancel the series due to poor ratings, they now say this:
Dollhouse Gets That Second Season
May 16, 2009 by Cynthia
I thought it was April Fool’s Day when I saw the news circulating that Dollhouse had been picked up for a second season. Earlier today, Matt Mitovich at TVGuide and Michael Ausiello over at EW were reporting that it was looking good but that we’d all have to wait until Monday for the official announcement.
A few hours later and James Hibberd (one of my favorite sources) is saying it’s for sure. His post is titled Surprise: Fox RENEWS Dollhouse.
Surprise doesn’t begin to cover it. Here’s what Hibberd had to say:
Alan Tudyk Rocks the Dollhouse
We’ve been saying the same thing since Dollhouse began – it doesn’t have the wit, the spark, the pacing that we’ve come to expect from a Joss Whedon production. All of that changed last week when Alan Tudyk arrived on the scene. His introductory episode, “Briar Rose”, was clever, fast-paced and it had that pop culture wit and wisdom that was the hallmark of the best Buffy episodes.
Tudyk, known to scifi fans as Wash from Firefly, is the face behind the mysterious Alpha that we’ve heard so many scary tales about. Which is funny, because on the surface, Alan Tudyk isn’t a scary person, but he sure made us believe when he switched from the nutty and neurotic engineer Kepler, to a man you wouldn’t want to meet up with in the dark.
“I had so much fun playing Kepler, all this stupid physical stuff was great. And then turning into a bad ass was also fun,” said Tudyk, when he spoke to reporters on the phone after last week’s episode. “Mentally speaking, and in this next episode, I’m only Alpha. I’m even more crazy, like he’s insane, insane.”
Did Dollhouse Take Too Long To Get Going?
April 24, 2009 by brian
That’s the question viewers and critics are asking, and Karla Peterson of the San Diego Union Tribune wonders it aloud in column form. Even creator Joss Whedon is admitting is doesn’t look good.
Shows such as Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel took a little time to hit their stride, but they were on smaller netlets in better economic climate. Networks are understandably quicker to push the panic button these days. They’re competing not just against each other but cable shows, blockbuster movies and all other sorts of entertainment.
Nowadays execs actually take time to ponder things such as what effect the release of a big video game will do their movie launch. There were plenty of voices among sci-fi faithful that questioned the wisdom of running Sarah Connor Chronicles and Dollhouse against the release of Watchmen.
There are just so many things competing for our fickle eyes. We really need to be wowed out of the gate and I think even the diehard Whedonites (I count myself among them) weren’t this time. I still hope Dollhouse gets another shot, though. The show’s been heating up lately and I’d love to see where subsequent seasons take us.
