David Hewlett to Guest on The Closer
June 26, 2009 by Cynthia
Stargate Atlantis fans known him as Doctor Rodney McKay, the self-absorbed (but loveable) genius who helped keep Atlantis going strong.
This week, David Hewlett takes on a entirely different character as he assumes the role of FBI Agent Jerry Moore in TNT’s police drama The Closer.
The episode, which airs Monday, June 29, is called “Walking Back the Cat.”
Brenda and her squad are temporarily deputized into the FBI when a missing person case turns into a full-blown murder investigation involving drug trafficking at gay dance parties. The case gives Brenda and Fritz the chance to work together again, but her investigative tactics don’t exactly fit FBI protocol.
Hewlett thoroughly enjoyed his time on the series, calling it (by way of Twitter) his best guest star experience ever. The actor is a frequent Tweeter, talking often about his young son, parenting and his life in the business.

Flanigan, Helfer Guest on Warehouse 13
May 28, 2009 by Cynthia
It’s going to be an all-star scifi summer on SCI FI Channel when some of your favorite stars pop up on the new dramedy adventure Warehouse 13.
Top of the list, Stargate Atlantis’ Joe Flanigan, Tricia Helfer from Battlestar Galactica, and one of my personal faves, James Naughton who starred in the Planet of the Apes TV series, but is more commonly known for his role on Gossip Girl.
Warehouse 13 is the story of two Secret Service agents who are assigned to guard a massive, top-secret storage facility in windswept South Dakota which houses every strange artifact, mysterious relic, fantastical object and supernatural souvenir ever collected by the U.S. government. The Warehouse’s caretaker Artie (Saul Rubinek) charges Pete (Eddie McClintock) and Myka (Joanna Kelly) with chasing down reports of supernatural and paranormal activity in search of new objects to cache at the Warehouse, as well as helping him to control the warehouse itself.

Stargate Universe Gets Familiar Guest Stars
April 15, 2009 by Cynthia
Anyone familiar with the Stargate franchise knows that its an “all in the family” kind of production company. It’s very common to see, not only actors, but characters repeated across the various incarnations and it’s about to happen again. With Stargate Universe well into production, SCI FI Channel has announced a list of Stargate guest stars along with three new editions to the family.
– Richard Dean Anderson (Stargate SG1, Stargate Continuum, Stargate Atlantis) Anderson reprises his role as General O’Neil. O’Neil is the former leader of the elite military team SG-1.
– Amanda Tapping (Sanctuary, Stargate SG1, Stargate Continuum, Stargate Atlantis) Reprises her role as Samantha Carter, an astrophysicist and United States Air Force Lieutenant Colonel.
– Michael Shanks (Stargate SG1, Stargate Continuum, Stargate Atlantis) Reprises his role as Dr. Daniel Jackson, Stargate’s archeologist and linguist.
CSI Casts Sci Fi Faves
April 13, 2009 by Cynthia
Here’s a quick look at some of your sci fi faves who will be guest starring on the various CSI incarnations in the coming weeks.
On April 27, Moonlight’s Jordan Belfi (also of Ten Inch Hero for you Jensen Ackles fans) will guest on CSI Miami in “Dead on Arrival.” The episode also includes Adrianne Palicki, aka Jess from Supernatural.

Smallville and Stargate Universe’s Alaina Huffman will co-star with Friday the 13th’s Derek Mears in a rerun of “Raging Cannibal” on CSI Miami on April 20.
Blucas, Newman and Winters Casting
February 23, 2009 by Cynthia
Some of our favorite sci-fi actors are on the move today - headed for new, mostly NON-sci fi pilots.
Buffy’s Marc Blucas has joined the cast of “See Cate Run,” Amy Smart’s series about a young lawyer determined to become president.
Jaime Ray Newman (Stargate Atlantis, Supernatural) has been cast as one of the witches from the new Eastwick. Even cooler is the addition of Veronica Cartwright whom you may know from X-Files, The Invasion of the Body Snatchers remake or as a child actor in The Birds.
Sarah Connor Chronicles’ Dean Winters will be starring in ABC’s Happy Town where he’ll play a father whose daughter was kidnapped years earlier. I’m a fan of Winter’s so I’m happy to see him pick up another series.

Stargate Atlantis Fans Choice on Blu-Ray

MGM wants you, the Atlantis fans, to choose which episodes go on the special Blu-Ray edition they’re preparing. Prove you’re a fan by answering the trivia question and then vote!
Life on Mars’ Bonet Has a New Baby
January 13, 2009 by brian
And talk about a kid with sci-fi street cred. Lisa Bonet, currently starring as Maya Daniels on Life on Mars, gave birth to Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa in December. The proud papa is Bonet’s actor hubby Jason Momoa, who played Ronon Dex on Stargate Atlantis.
Us Magazine reports on the happy couple. This is their second child, as they also have 1-year-old Lola Iolani. They’re a great looking couple so I’m betting these little tykes will grow up to be heartbreakers. And possibly battle against Wraith for the future of our galaxy. All kidding aside, though, congratulations to the new parents.
Stargate Atlantis: Enemy at the Gate
January 8, 2009 by Cynthia
With this episode, we bit a fond farewell to one of my favorite TV shows, though I suspect this isn’t the last we’ll see of the crew of Atlantis.
Stargate Atlantis: Enemy at the Gate
Air Date: Friday, January 9 on SCI FI Channel
Once more (with feeling) Sheppard, McKay and the rest rush to protect the world from the Wraith only this time the world they’re protecting is Earth!
With a neat little tie-in to Vegas, Enemy at the Gate is a very serviceable final episode for the series. Those who have watched since day one will be rewarded with a few winks to the past (including a nice nod to the late General Hammond) but you’ll still be able to enjoy it if you’re a more recent convert.
My only complaint about the episode is the scope. It plays like a regular episode of the series and I was really hoping for something more grandiose. For example, I swear I saw a casting notice some months ago for extras for a Wraith attack scene in Times Square. Did I imagine that?
Because that’s the kind of thing I was hoping for in the big finale.
Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy every minute (okay, there’s one minute that I didn’t enjoy at all but I’ll grumble about that after everyone has seen it), I just would have preferred to see the characters go out on a much higher note.

Hewlett Talks to TVGuide About the Final Atlantis
January 7, 2009 by Cynthia
“It’s such a blur, the final episode. The reality is just miserable! I really love playing McKay. It’s one of those roles where every day something is different. I don’t think you can finish the last episode of a five-year show that’s been this much fun to do, and sum it up the way that you have to. So I couldn’t help feeling, “We need more time for this!”"
David Hewlett talks to TVGuide about his in character and on set relationship with Jewel Staite, McKay’s journey and the prospect of playing and/or never playing McKay again.
