Lea is best known for his role as Krycek in The X-Files. He’ll be playing Erica’s ex-husband.

Lexa Doig played Dr. Lam on Stargate SG-1 and she’ll be a doctor on V. She has also guested on The 4400 and Eureka and she was Risa in Supernatural “The End.”

Also joining the cast is Charles Mesure who played the Archangel Michael on Xena, and has had a recurring role on Crossing Jordan. He also appeared in Boogeyman, which was written by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke.

Haglund plays Blaine Miller, the owner of a diner who might have a clue to the mystery.

The episode was scheduled to air January 14, but Fox looks like they’re still doing some shuffling, so that date may change.

According to Variety, Spotnitz is working on a series called Humanitas which is a futuristic medical thriller.  Spotnitz wants to take a look at the moral and ethical issues that arise out of our ever increasing ability to manipulate genetics.

He is also working on a TV adaptation of Robert Silverberg’s novel The World Inside which deals with overpopulation.

The ever busy Spotnitz is also penning a cover ops pilot for FX. You can learn more about all of his projects from his website BigLight.com.

Wanted is an adaptation of a hit comic by Mark Millar and J.G Jones. The movie stars the aforementioned Jolie, James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman. McAvoy is a put upon office geek who suddenly finds out he has superpowers allowing him to become a badass assassin. Jolie and Freeman are his guides into the world of superpowered killing sprees.

The plot doesn’t matter much more than that, really. It comes in single, two-disc and Blu-Ray of course. There’s also a collector’s set that will lighten your pockets by nearly $70. It comes with a photo booklet, movie postcards and a framed 3-D cell.

Slipping in theaters this summer with considerably less hoopla was The X-Files:I Want to Believe. The reunion of Mulder and Scully took too long for audiences to care anymore. This one slipped in and out of the cinema quicker than those sneaky aliens Mulder’s always looking for.

Much of the X-Files’ problem resulted from timing. It’s been six years since the TV series went off the air. That’s tough enough for a show like Star Trek to overcome but with the number of questions a show like X-Files raises, it’s hard to maintain that interest over more than half a decade.

Also, there is the questionable decision to release the movie just a week after The Dark Knight. A lot of the X-Files’ fanbase (me included) was busy trying to see the Batman sequel a second time. Opening that closely to the biggest movie of summer gave the X-Files zero chance to open at number one.

The film reveals the alien invasion is supposed to take place in 2012, which seems to be trying to set up a sequel. But with these opening weekend numbers, I wouldn’t bet on it.

For Duchovny, the initial script reading with co-star Gillian Anderson was more sentimental than our actual reunion.

“I realized that Gillian and I have changed over the years, but when you start reading these people, they haven’t. They are the same and they feel the same way about each other.”

What way is that exactly?

Duchovny grins. “There’s definitely some skin in this movie,” he reveals. “And not all of it is being flayed or ripped apart. There’s some Gillian skin, and some of mine. Maybe that’s the movie’s Big Secret. Maybe this time around, it’ll be more like The X-Rated Files.”

Everything seems so relaxed on the set, its easy to forget that this whole production of a movie is basically a covert operation.

Producer-director-writer Chris Carter explains to TV Guide, “We are using any tactic we can to keep things quiet. Nobody has been killed in the making of this movie. Yet.”

The tactics include requiring all but the two lead actors to turn in their scripts at the end of each day and allowing only a handful of crew members to read those pages (and even they had to do it in a room with video cameras on them).

“There was a day I thought I lost my script,” recalls Duchovny. “I thought, I’ve ruined it for everybody.”

The story is set in winter 2008, so its happening in real time, picking up with Mulder and Scully six years after we last saw them.

Gillian Anderson never doubted that Mulder and Scully would return for their second feature film, but those first few days at work felt unbelievably familiar and freakishly foreign, she tells TV Guide. “I had the worst first and second day. But I realized I’ve spent such a long time since the show trying not to do anything that resembled Scully.”

In the end, it took just a few minutes alongside her partner in crime fighting to bring Scully back. She and Duchovny stayed in touch via e-mail since the series ended. She recalls their first chance to catch up in person.

“It was the first time I’d seen David in ages,” she says. “It’s emotional. We have a lot of history. I spent more time with David than I have with most of my friends and some family members.”

“The emotional story of Mulder and Scully is really the heart of the movie,” says producer-writer Frank Spotnitz. “Its about their love story.”

The second X-Files movie now has a title. Variety says it will be called X-Files: I Want to Believe.

Apparently six years have elapsed since the end of the series and the film sequel, slated to hit theaters July 25.

Show creator Chris Carter is keeping pretty tight-lipped about the movie’s plot but has said it would stand on its own as a story. Carter told SCI FI.com’s Sci Fi Wire that he wants to “scare the pants off you” like a really good episode of the show.

Since he said “really good” I’m assuming that means no appearances by Robert Patrick or Annabeth Gish. I’m just saying.
