Buffy Without Joss, Why Not?

Buffy Without Joss, Why Not?

Yesterday, the Hollywood Reporter broke a story about a potential Buffy the Vampire Slayer relaunch that wouldn’t include Joss Whedon in the mix. Basically, the original rights holders, Fran Rubel and husband Kaz Kuzui were approached by Vertigo Entertainment (The Grudge) with the idea of producing a new feature film based on the franchise. The article states that the producers hadn’t ruled out Whedon’s involvement but they have not yet “reached out to him.”
As you can imagine, the fans went wild. Buffy without Joss? Sacrilege! I say, baloney. I fully admit that Joss Whedon was 100 % responsible for the …read more

Buffy’s Willow Is A Mommy!

Buffy The Vampire Slayer and How I Met Your Mother star Alyson Hannigan and husband Alexis Denisof (one of the stars of Angel) have a healthy baby daughter. The couple met during the 1999-2000 season of Buffy and this is their first child.
People reports that little Satyana Denisof was born March 24 and how wild is this, that’s Hannigan’s birthday too. Hannigan told people her strange pregnancy craving was ginger ale. She said she also felt a little absent minded during the process. Hannigan told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres she felt like a stoned Koala bear. There’s an …read more

Things SF Fans Can Be Thankful For

It’s the time of year to count our many blessings and the b5 Media family is no different than your family. Well, other than many of us never having physically met each other. Now that I think about it, there are countless extended members of my own family I haven’t met (and more that claim they’ve met me that I never recognize) but that’s a whole different story. I thought I’d take the time to point out a few things SFUniverse is thankful for this year.

Buffy Returns – At Least on Nintendo DS

IGN got to sneak a peek at a Buffy The Vampire Slayer game coming to the world’s most popular handheld console, the Nintendo DS. 505 Games is bringing this to us and it’s been described as a melding of Resident Evil-third person action and first-person shooting.
Here’s hoping this is good, as Buffy has actually been one of the few licenses to come out pretty well on video games. She has adventures on both the Xbox and PS2 that are fondly remembered. And once we get this in stores, we’ve got to get back on finding somebody to release this cartoon.

Jericho Could Follow Serenity’s Lead

Jericho Could Follow Serenity’s Lead

With a small but intensely loyal fanbase out there, there is some talk that the dearly departed CBS drama Jericho could return as a movie. The short-lived Joss Whedon sci-fi western Firefly came back as a movie that was critically acclaimed but didn’t make tons of money.
But executive producer Carol Barbee told Sci Fi Wire she’s open to the possibilities.
“There’s definitely an Internet series to be had, and we always talked about a graphic novel, and … a movie,” Barbee said. “I mean, there are lots of things that I could easily see as a way to continue …read more

Are You Ready For Star Trek Year Four?

Continuing a TV-comic crossover trend that’s becoming very common, IDW Publishing is picking up where the five-year TV voyage of Star Trek left off. The Enterprise was on a five-year mission to explore strange new worlds but only made three years on television.
The franchise’s famous aficionados, among the best in sci-fi or any genre kept the movement going and now Star Trek is one of the most profitable and recognized brands there is. IDW is presenting a slate of highly anticipated Star Trek comics we’ve talked about here. D.C. Fontana, who IDW refers to as the “Grande Dame” of …read more
