The Save Jericho site has received more than 9,000 visits in less than two weeks with executive producers Carol Barbee and Jon Turteltaub being among the visitors. They called the fans’ campaign “brilliant” and gave supporters hope assuring them that talks to bring the twice canceled postapocalyptic drama back to TV continue.
Jericho Rangers raised $6,000 in less than a month to fund 10 days of advertising with Time Warner. That’s in addition to funding an ad in Variety and purchasing a billboard in downtown Los Angeles. The TV ad [...]
Post from: SF Universe

The Save Jericho site has received more than 9,000 visits in less than two weeks with executive producers Carol Barbee and Jon Turteltaub being among the visitors.
Jericho Rangers raised $6,000 in less than a month to fund 10 days of advertising with Time Warner. That’s in addition to funding an ad in Variety and purchasing a billboard in downtown Los Angeles. The TV ad can also be viewed on YouTube. On the site, fans can also download Save Jericho postcards for the continued letter-writing campaign.

As you’ve probably noticed, Jericho Rangers have been quite active on our site as well, sparking some of the most passionate debate in SFUniverse history. Whatever happens, this has been one of the biggest stories of the year and you know we’ll keep you up to date. We have been unable to determine the truthfulness of the rumor that CBS is giving Jericho’s old timeslot to new show CSI:Survivor Island.

With a small but intensely loyal fanbase out there, there is some talk that the dearly departed CBS drama Jericho could return as a movie. The short-lived Joss Whedon sci-fi western Firefly came back as a movie that was critically acclaimed but didn’t make tons of money.
But executive producer Carol Barbee told Sci Fi Wire she’s open to the possibilities.
“There’s definitely an Internet series to be had, and we always talked about a graphic novel, and … a movie,” Barbee said. “I mean, there are lots of things that I could easily see as a way to continue [...]
Post from: SF Universe

With a small but intensely loyal fanbase out there, there is some talk that the dearly departed CBS drama Jericho could return as a movie. The short-lived Joss Whedon sci-fi western Firefly came back as a movie that was critically acclaimed but didn’t make tons of money.

But executive producer Carol Barbee told Sci Fi Wire she’s open to the possibilities.

“There’s definitely an Internet series to be had, and we always talked about a graphic novel, and … a movie,” Barbee said. “I mean, there are lots of things that I could easily see as a way to continue the story.”

The second X-Files film is on its way this summer and of course there’s a little show called Star Trek that managed to live well past its initial run on TV. The Star Trek films were a huge part of that resurgence. Another possibility Barbee touched on was some sort of graphic novel. That’s a road that has been successfully navigated by cult favorites Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spinoff Angel. Both those shows are continuing where the TV adventures left by taking the story into comic books. Whatever happens, Jericho’s impact looks to last longer than its one and a half seasons on CBS would dictate.

Jericho earned a 4.3 overnight rating but at least some of that is attributable to NBC’s decision to air internet-born drama Quarterlife instead of usual workhorse Law and Order:SVU. The question now is if they will be enough to earn it a third season, a decision that could come as early as next week.

Jericho earned a 4.3 overnight rating but at least some of that is attributable to NBC’s decision to air internet-born drama Quarterlife instead of usual workhorse Law and Order:SVU. Quarterlife didn’t earn a quarter of the ratings any of the numerous Law and Order spinoffs would have. Jericho executive producer Carol Barbee had previously termed the Feb. 26 episode “make or break,” but she can’t very well do that every week. In short, the lackluster competition and heartfelt pleas of Barbee may have created a sort of “perfect storm” not likely to repeat itself.

Fans of the drama, which has been canceled once but earned a reprieve after a campaign from its diehard supporters, are used to playing the waiting game.

If you’ve been meaning to get around to watching Jericho, there really is no time like the present. The post-apocalyptic drama’s future depends on it. In an interview with Sci-Fi Channel’s Sci-Fi Wire, the show’s executive producer Carol Barbee termed the Feb. 26 episode “make or break” for the show.
“I think this next airing will probably tell the tale,” Barbee said in an interview at WonderCon in San Francisco on Feb. 24, referring to the upcoming Feb. 26 episode, “Jennings & Rall.” “Our numbers have been OK, [but] not great.

Our [demographic] has been very good; they’ve been very happy with that. But we’ll see. … If we trend up this week, I think we’ll look pretty good. If we don’t trend up, or if we stay the same, I think we’ll have to wait and see what they want to do with us. I mean, they’re going to air all seven; it’s just a matter of how they feel about producing more.”

Barbee said if CBS opts not to pick Jericho up, she’s confident it will find another home on cable. She listed the Sci-Fi Channel, which currently airs Jericho reruns, as a potential suitor. New episodes of Jericho air on CBS Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET. Reruns of the first season air on SCI FI Mondays at 10 p.m.
