**It’s now official!!!**
A number of sources are reporting that The CW started their day making phone calls to discuss renewals with the executives of their top shows. Supernatural and Smallville both made the cut, one more expected than the other.
Smallville nearly went away last year but a major turn around in the story line has breathed new life into the waning series. But would Tom Welling sign on for yet another year as the boy-turned-man of steel?
A number of sources are reporting that The CW started their day making phone calls to discuss renewals with the executives of their top shows. Supernatural and Smallville both made the cut, one more expected than the other.

Smallville nearly went away last year but a major turn around in the story line has breathed new life into the waning series. But would Tom Welling sign on for yet another year as the boy-turned-man of steel? The answer appears to be yes, though I imagine his contract came with a very large number in the salary space.

Supernatural has experienced an almost spooky rebirth this past season as they pulled some of the best ratings numbers they’ve ever had. Add to that a flurry of interest from large portals such as TVGuide and EW and the little show that could has turned into one, hot property. It didn’t hurt that both Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki starred in high profile movies at the start of the year, giving the show an even bigger publicity kick.

Though there has been no official announcement made by The CW, sources at TVWeek are confident in passing on the good news, so we figured we’d jump on that bandwagon, too! If you’ll recall, both Supernatural and Smallville started filming a few weeks earlier than normal this past year which meant they could have rolled into their finales without a pick-up. I’m glad The CW didn’t wait as I don’t want to see what Kripke would do if he thought it was possibly the end of the Winchester brothers on TV.

The CW also is picking up 90210, Gossip Girl, Top Model and One Tree Hill. No word on Reaper which returns to the network in March.

But on his 21st birthday, Sam was told it was time he joined the family business — the business of hunting down escaped souls and sending them back to hell where they belong.

If you’re thinking Sam and Dean Winchester, think again. Sam Oliver works for the devil himself (Ray Wise) thanks to a deal made by his parents, who may not be his real parents at all. It’s Reaper and it’s returning to The CW for a second season starting on March 3.

If you’ve never seen the series, it’s sort of Supernatural crossed with Chuck. It’s mainstay is action comedy but you’ll also see a number of ghosts, ghoulies and other things that go bump in the night. If that’s not enough to draw you in, then watch for the talents of Ray Wise and Tyler Labine (Sam’s buddy Sock) both of whom steal every scene they’re in.

I have images of Reaper’s Devil sharing a drink with Supernatural’s Lilith — now that would be one mad tea party!

I think more than anything that has happened on Smallville, I’m shocked they’ve been on eight seasons and haven’t had an episode called Bulletproof already.
In Bulletproof, John Jones/Martian Manhunter gets shot and somebody’s trying to pin the blame on Clark. That’s not good. Also tonight we’re going to see good girls gone bad and bad girls, well still being bad.

Air Date: January 22, 2009

I think more than anything that has happened on Smallville, I’m shocked they’ve been on eight seasons and haven’t had an episode called Bulletproof already.

In Bulletproof, John Jones/Martian Manhunter gets shot and somebody’s trying to pin the blame on Clark. That’s not good. Also tonight we’re going to see good girls gone bad and bad girls, well still being bad.

Lana Lang has been MIA for months and Ollie Queen ran into her while they were both tracking down Lex. Boy, does anybody remember Lana being the innocent girl next door? Would not have figured her to be going all Lara Croft on us. Of course, when you hang around Clark Kent for a few years you had better learn to take care of yourself. Things tend to get dangerous.

Tess Mercer is still working on covert missions for Lex and it seems her and Lana are about to have it out. Hey, I wrote a fan fiction somewhere about them fighting.. wait, I digress.

Speaking of good girls gone bad, Chloe now remembers everything about Clark. As any DC Comics fan can tell you, mindwipes do not work. And what is up with the Legion telling Clark there’s no record of Chloe Sullivan in their future? Ominous much?

Ordinarily I’m in favor of any comic-based TV projects, but everybody from critics to commenters on our boards thought this idea was born bad. Thankfully, somebody at Warner Bros. agrees. What about a young Wonder Woman show? That movie doesn’t look like it’s ever going to happen and that’s a show that would appeal to Smallville’s young fanbase.

A recent poll by TV Guide confirmed what many of our readers have been telling us for years: Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are two of TV’s sexiest stars.
The Supernatural superstars are Nos. 1 and 2 respectively on that site’s list of the sexiest stars in Sci-Fi. CW, not surprisingly came out very well on that list as just behind our favorite duo are Smallville’s Tom Welling and Allison Mack.
A recent poll by TV Guide confirmed what many of our readers have been telling us for years: Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are two of TV’s sexiest stars.

But back to Jensen and Jared. TV Guide posted some of the most gushing comments as part of their photo gallery and Supernatural fans did not hold back the praise.

Lacy215 declares Jensen not just the sexiest sci-fi star, but the sexiest man on the planet. Sheesh, no pressure to live up to there. JennyluvsJared not just because of his good looks, but his sense of humor. I hear women really do like that – course it doesn’t hurt to look like Jared.

As I mentioned, this pretty much tracks with what our readers have been telling us about Supernatural’s dynamic duo. My only remaining question is: How many of our readers participated in stuffing TV Guide’s online ballot box?
