Day One Gets Cut Short, V Gets Split

It started off looking like a good season for scifi on TV, but already the major networks are starting to get cold feet. The most recent news involves the NBC series Day One. The series, about survival after a global catastrophe, has been cut down to miniseries size, says Variety.
Originally, the series was expected to run 13 episodes beginning right after the winter Olympics. Now NBC has changed the order, asking for a four hour miniseries which means some major reworking needs to be done on the plot. Day One is NBC’s new apocalyptal aftermath series helmed by Heroes and Lost producer Jesse Alexander.
The story follows a band of eclectic neighbors from the same apartment building in Los Angeles who are forced to ban together in order to survive. Now they’ve got some hefty talent backing them up in the form of Javier Grillo-Marxuach (seen here with his friends from Lost) the creative genius behind the underrated Middleman series along with Erik Oleson from E-Ring and The Agency. …read more
The End is Near: Day One Comes to NBC

Today, at the NBC “Infronts,” the network confirmed that Day One will be on their fall schedule. Day One is a survival story that begins after a “global catastrophe” decimates the world’s infrastructures. Like the cult favorite Jericho, the show revolves around a mixed bag of survivors, in this case the residents of an apartment building in Van Nuys, California, who must band together in order to stay alive.
