Did Dollhouse Take Too Long To Get Going?
April 24, 2009 by brian
That’s the question viewers and critics are asking, and Karla Peterson of the San Diego Union Tribune wonders it aloud in column form. Even creator Joss Whedon is admitting is doesn’t look good.
Shows such as Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel took a little time to hit their stride, but they were on smaller netlets in better economic climate. Networks are understandably quicker to push the panic button these days. They’re competing not just against each other but cable shows, blockbuster movies and all other sorts of entertainment.
Nowadays execs actually take time to ponder things such as what effect …read more
Tonight on Dollhouse:Needs
April 3, 2009 by brian
Echo, Sierra and Victor awaken with their original memories and personalities intact tonight. Uh-oh! Echo then decides to lead the actives to freedom. There’s no way any of this goes well.
Meanwhile, Agent Ballard is a lot closer to the Dollhouse than he realizes. Mysteries, reawakened personalities and fun, fans! I wonder if the actives will retain any of the butt-kicking aspects of their personalities?
This should be good. Whedonites, what do you think? Has this show hit its first season stride yet?

Dollhouse: Man On The Street Preview
March 20, 2009 by brian
Tonight is the ep many fans of Dollhouse have been waiting for, as both Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku say this is where things just click. In Man On The Street, Echo becomes the perfect wife for an Internet mogul played by Patton Oswalt.
Tonight on Dollhouse: True Believer

Echo has perhaps her most challenging undercover assignment tonight and in a related development, Eliza Dushku has perhaps her biggest acting challenge.
In the first episode of Dollhouse, we learned that the actives aren’t perfect. They have the complete brain patterns of the subject downloaded into their cranium, including any ailments that person may have. In that particular ep, Echo’s persona was nearsighted. That was a bit of foreshadowing as tonight Echo will be a blind woman going undercover to expose a dangerous cult.
Tonight’s a critical episode in many ways. Dushku knows a lot of folks will be watching this …read more
Tonight on Dollhouse: Gray Hour

Sometimes, the identities Dollhouse’s Echo has to take on are not so legal. Tonight, for example, she will pretend to be an art thief. And as a way of “casing the joint” she will have to take on the role of a prostitute. Uh-huh, yeah.
Of course, since “actives” are rented out as everything from art thieves to dream dates, isn’t Echo technically a prostitute anyway? Oh, the moral quandaries Joss Whedon is tossing at us.
Tonight on Dollhouse: Stage Fright
Echo’s assignments keep her displaying a variety of talents and tonight she takes to the pop world as a backup singer. She’s assigned to protect a rising music star from an extremely obsessed fan.
I didn’t love the first episode, but thought last week’s was greatly improved. I’m curious to see where they’ll take the show with tonight’s character. One of the most intriguing things about the Dollhouse is the near limitless possibilities for stories. Eliza Dushku, talking to reporters before the premiere, said those chances to stretch as an actress were what she wanted.

Dollhouse Premiere Pics
January 27, 2009 by brian
It’s almost time for the premiere of Joss Whedon’s latest effort, Dollhouse. It will be here before you know it, Feb.13 at 10 p.m. E.T. Sigh, that’s really still a long way away. But at least we have some new photos to tide us over.
It seems that in the premiere episode titled Ghost, Eliza Dushku’s Echo plays a hostage negotiator. If they were going to end Eliza Dushku in after us, I suspect a lot of guys would be trying to get kidnapped.
