Hancock Smashes Up L.A. on DVD Today

Unconventional superhero Hancock crash lands on DVD today with three different versions: single disc rated and unrated versions and a two-disc edition with both versions and a digital copy of the film. He’s also available on Blu-Ray. Featurettes include Superhumans:The Making of Hancock and Building a Better Hero.
Hancock played to mixed reviews from critics but because of the amazing box office draw of Will Smith, made money anyway. The same can’t be said of Eddie Murphy’s SF-ish comedy Meet Dave. Murphy stars as the miniature captain of a spaceship made to look – just like Eddie …read more
Ratner to Direct Shrinking Man

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Rush Hour director Brett Ratner is in negotiations to direct a remake of The Incredible Shrinking Man.
Eddie Murphy is rumored to star in the revamp of the novel and 1957 genre classic that starred Grant Williams. With Murphy and Ratner attached, it will almost certainly be a comedic take ala Murphy’s Nutty Professor redo.

Battlefield Earth Loses Dubious Distinction

Battlefield Earth is no longer the worst movie of all time, at least according to the 2008 Golden Raspberry Awards. Lindsay Lohan vehicle I Know Who Killed Me earned a whopping eight “Razzies,” besting (or would that be worsting?) Battlefield Earth. The dreadful adaptation of the L. Ron Hubbard sci-fi novel held the previous record of seven Razzies, a shame Battlefield Earth shared along with Showgirls.
Lohan brought home Razzies for Worst Actress and Worst On-Screen Couple and I Know Who Killed Me also won in the new category of Worst Excuse for a Horror Film. Eddie Murphy and Norbit …read more
