Tonight: It’s the Fringe Winter Finale

Remember back in the day when TV shows only had one finale a year? Or maybe that was a rule in that other universe we all lived in. . .
Fringe has a big one planned tonight. Here’s the official description:
A Manhattan office building is rattled to its core, leaving only one survivor, and the Fringe Team examines his otherworldly origins. Once Walter surmises that what shook the building was something he discovered many years ago, the team races to Jacksonville to help Olivia reconnect with her past in order to avert what they fear will happen next in the all-new …read more

Fringe: What Lies Below Review was So-So

Fringe: What Lies Below Review was So-So

I’ve been putting off writing a review of last week’s episode of Fringe and now I think I know why. I have nothing to say about it. It’s that simple.
“What Lies Below” was a basic story about a viral contaminate lose in an office building. Olivia and Peter arrive on the scene just in time to be part of the quarantine and it isn’t long before Peter is infected.
The promos on this looked great. Like a lock-down horror movie where the people you love have gone psycho. But the actual episode wasn’t nearly as exciting as the promos led me …read more

Could it Be Kurtzman, Orci and O’Loughlin?

Could it Be Kurtzman, Orci and O’Loughlin?

The guys behind Fringe and the new Star Trek movie, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, have made a deal with CBS to bring back classic cop show Hawaii Five-O. What makes this move even more interesting for scifi fans is the fact that Moonlight star Alex O’Loughlin is seriously being considered for the lead.
O’Loughlin hasn’t had much luck on TV, weathering first the cancellation of his cult favorite vampire drama and then the dismal hospital drama Three Rivers. CBS execs say they’re determined to find a successful vehicle for the charming Aussie actor and this could be the one.

Shades of X-Files on Fringe: Johari Window

Shades of X-Files on Fringe: Johari Window

I had intended to start this review with a quick definition of a Johari Window but the concept is a little too deep for that. You can read all about it on Wikipedia, but suffice to say it’s an experiment that has to do with the difference between how we see ourselves and how others see us. If you saw the episode, then the connection is fairly obvious.
The entire episode has a very tight X-Files feel about it some of which came from the location. Unlike most Fringe episodes, this one took place in a small town tucked away behind …read more

Tonight on Fringe: Johari Window

Now I feel like we’re getting the “real” first new episode of the winter season. This one looks majorly spooky and the guest star is Michael O’Neill who was in last week’s Numb3rs. Also, don’t forget to also set your DVR for Bones at 8:00. It’s “The X in the File” and it guests Dean Haglund and knowing Bones it will be full of X-Files jokes.

The Folks from Fox Take the TCA Stage

It was Fox’s turn at the TCA’s today and they had a lot to talk about. Glee is at the top of the charts for them, Bones, Fringe and House are still zinging along and they have a couple of exciting new shows coming up mid-season.
Panels at the event included a talk with the cast of Past Life, the new drama that deals with Past Life regression. On hand was (L-R): Ravi Patel, Richard Schiff, Nicholas Bishop and Kelli Giddish.
The Human Target was also unleashed on the crowd and star Mark Valley came with his own mobile shooting gallery.

Fringe: Unearthed Confuses Audiences Everywhere

Fringe: Unearthed Confuses Audiences Everywhere

If you sat down to watch Fringe tonight without forewarning of its “special” nature, you were probably very perplexed when agent Charlie Francis showed up to aid Olivia in the investigation. No, it wasn’t some odd Pam Ewing dream, it was a left over first season episode that escaped and was never aired.
I’m all for all the Fringe I can get, so I don’t begrudge them airing an old episode, but they should have at least put a disclaimer at the beginning. I mean, Fringe is confusing enough without throwing Charlie at us months after he died. (And was Astrid’s …read more

Tonight on Fringe: Unearthed

Fringe is back and it feels like it’s been forever since they showed a new episode. I have a hard enough time following the mythology on the show without these big breaks.
To make things even more confusing, Fox says that tonight’s episode, “Unearthed” is actually and unaired episode from season one. . . .or maybe it’s all happening in an alternate universe. . . or maybe we’re all in an alternate universe where Fringe is only just beginning. . . take it away, Fox!
