Paquin Wins Globe for True Blood

In what has to be considered an upset, True Blood star Anna Paquin walked away with the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Drama. It was a star-studded race including the likes of Sally Field and Kyra Sedgwick.
Blood was up for Best TV Drama but lost out to critical darling Mad Men. It’s another important development for what is becoming a breakout hit for HBO. True Blood Earns Golden Globe Noms

HBO’s vampire drama True Blood earned favor with the Golden Globe voters, garnering a nomination for best dramatic series and a best dramatic actress nod for star Anna Paquin.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced its picks for the coveted golden hardware today. Blood will go against another HBO show In Treatment, Showtime’s Dexter, Fox’s House, and critical darling AMC’s Mad Men. Paquin will compete against Sally Field for ABC’s Brothers and Sisters, Mariska Hargitay for NBC’s Law and Order:SVU and Kyra Sedgwick of TNT’s The Closer.
