Ordinarily, I would be blathering on about the plot, but you’re not even listening to me right now, are you? You’re looking at the pretty people getting their romance on, aren’t you?

Yes, Claire and Alex are exploring their feelings for each other. Alex, I’m aware she’s gorgeous but hanging around the Bennet family is a good way to end up hurt or dead. I’m just saying.

And for the record, Claire wants him to run but Alex thinks she’s in over her head. Buddy, if the invulnerable girl is worried it’s probably time to get out of Dodge. Again, just saying.

Tonight on Heroes: It’s Coming

When last we left our Heroes, Arthur Petrelli had just removed Hiro’s ability to travel through space and time. That is the definition of not good. Tonight, Matt Parkman tries to communicate with Angela Petrelli, who is trapped in a coma.

Peter is concerned because he knows Future Claire will kill him. And Mohinder realizes he really jacked up the formula and is trying to put things right. Maybe Mohinder and Peter should just go somewhere and chill out. So far, their attempts to “help” have been pretty disastrous. I’m just saying.

Tonight on Heroes: Eris Quod Sum

Ooh,oh, they broke out the Latin. Eris Quod Sum, or “I Am What You Will Be,” seems to be a portent of the dark future that both Hiro and Peter have glimpsed. Tonight, Arthur Petrelli offers his son a chance to help “for the greater good.” Anybody buying that? I mean, other than Peter who would buy oceanfront property in Idaho?

Oh and Elle, recently kicked to the curb by The Company, breaks into the Bennet home. A fight ensues between her and Claire. Yes, you heard me: Hayden Panettiere/Kristin Bell catfight. If that doesn’t bring in the ratings, I don’t know what will.

Heroes Tonight: One of Us, One of Them

Tonight, the Heroes world reels from Future Peter’s misguided attempt to set things right, making them much, much worse than before. The Villains are after the man that imprisoned them, HRG himself. And the new HRG/Sylar partnership begins. It’s gonna be just like one of those Bing Crosby/Bob Hope road flicks! No? Maybe a buddy cop movie, ala Lethal Weapon?

Closer, but probably not quite. But it should be incredibly entertaining. Also, Claire continues trying to figure out why she can heal but not feel. And Hiro attempts to stop Daphne the Speedster from getting the second half of the formula that will cause chaos.

Heroes’ Ratings Down For Premiere

The Hollywood Reporter tells us the ratings for the Premiere Extravaganza of NBC’s Heroes were – not very heroic. The season premiere episode pulled a 6.1/ 9 share for its first hour but dropped to 5.6/9 during the second hour. That marks an all-time low for the series, the first time in the show’s history it pulled in less than a 6.0.

The show may still be suffering from the after effects of a strike-shortened season that didn’t sit too well with some viewers. In the first season, Heroes was a phenomenon on par with the launch of ABC’s Lost. Characters like Hiro, “The Cheerleader” Claire Bennet and the deliciously evil Sylar became household names. Most critics and fans that actually watched the two-part premiere seemed to like it. What did you think, readers? Did you watch it? Or did NBC break your heart last year? Can Heroes get its mojo back?

Sun-Times Notes Hayden, LiLo Similarities

It was bound to happen, these comparison articles are all the rage. The Chicago Sun-Times has a piece today asking if Heroes star Hayden Panettiere is going to become the next Lindsay Lohan.

Heaven, let us hope not. It’s true they both became stars at incredibly young ages, are reportedly dating older people (Milo Ventimiglia for Hayden and Samantha Ronson for Lohan supposedly) and have dads with legal issues.

But so far Hayden has kept her head screwed on straight. She isn’t a party fixture, shows up for work on time (and sober) and the only real legal trouble she’s personally been in is protesting the treatment of whales. All we’ve seen from SFUniverse’s favorite cheerleader so far is an actual desire to Save The World, or at the very least make it a better place.

And hey, if we’re going to start kicking people if one/or both of their parents have problems, Hollywood isn’t going to be able to crank out a movie, talk show, or one-hour sci-fi show.

Present The Emmy, Save The World

OK, maybe it’s not quite as critical as all that. Still, The Futon Critic tells us that Claire Bennet herself, Hayden Panettiere has been announced as one of the presenters for the historic 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

Heroes earned a nod for Outstanding Drama Series in 2007, by the way. And in July Hayden picked up a Teen Choice award for Choice Female Actress in a Television Drama Series. The Emmys will emanate from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles Sept. 21 from 8-11 p.m. ET on ABC. I can’t wait to see what the animal lover and fashion plate will be wearing on the Emmy red carpet.

Hayden Panettiere Auctions Off Her Clothing

Heroes’ Hayden Panettiere loves whales so much, she would give them the shirt off her back. It wouldn’t fit though, so she’d have to logically give it to a human. But wait, she’s a celeb so money could clearly be made from this. Howza bout an auction? Hollyscoop is reporting that our favorite superpowered cheerleader is auctioning off her clothes to benefit Save The Whales Again. At the site Panettiere Closet you can bid in her summer sales event. And no, none of her unmentionables are in the auction. Hayden did tell the BBC her mom pulled out “some embarrassing stuff.”

Let me just say that in an era in which we hear all too much about young starlets checking into and out of rehab, this seems like a young lady that has her head on straight. It is also quite awesome that she happens to star in a sci fi show with a character that kicks major butt.
