"Journeyman" May Be New Highlander
August 25, 2008 by brian
JoBlo reports that Kevin McKidd, star of the acclaimed but canceled Journeyman, could step into some immortal shoes in the Highlander movie revamp.
This could be a good casting. McKidd is a good actor and for bonus points is actually Scottish. JoBlo cites an interview with a Dublin radio station in which McKidd confirmed he had been approached about the role.
Journeyman’s short run was one of the true tragedies of the strike-shortened TV season, so it’s certainly nice to hear that McKidd is being considered for other high-profile projects. Good luck, Kevin, you deserve it.

NBC Banking on Sci Fi and Fantasy This Fall
April 2, 2008 by brian
NBC is turning to sci fi, fantasy and action in the 2008-09 season to bolster its sagging fortunes. Variety reports NBC will offer up shows including the much discussed Knight Rider revamp, a reimagining of Robinson Crusoe, and wonders of wonders, an actual original show called The Listener.
That one focuses on a telepathic paramedic. Heroes has been a surprise hit for the network, but its other genre shows have failed to capture that same magic. Bionic Woman and Journeyman were casualties of both their low ratings and the writers’ strike.
For that matter, Heroes’ second season failed to recapture much …read more

I have mixed emotions. I am absolutely ready for the new season to begin, but a little sad because the beginning brings us closer to the end. One of the smartest, most well-written shows on TV in any genre will be gone soon. Yeah, it hurts to lose shows like Journeyman but in comparison, we hardly knew them. Galactica has stayed long enough to enjoy …read more
Graves Is On The Fringe
November 28, 2007 by Cynthia
Zap2it is reporting that director Alex Graves is on board for the new JJ Abrams series, Fringe.
Says Zap2it:
FOX won a bidding war for “Fringe” back in early October, giving a series commitment to the science fiction-inflected thriller and signing on for an ambitious pilot budget in the $10 million range, according to the industry trade papers.
The “X-Files”-esque pilot focuses on an odd trio of paranormal investigators — A brilliant, eccentric research scientist, his estranged son and a young, female FBI agent.
Graves is currently contracted to NBC’s Journeyman through December but its unlikely that even that commitment will need to be …read more
