Look at the expression on Misha’s face. It just begs to be captioned, doesn’t it? I’ll even offer up a small prize for the best response. So have it, Castiel fans — what is Misha thinking in this photo?

This past weekend, Supernatural fans rolled into the top ten trending topics on Twitter with their live coverage of the Asylum con in the UK. Using the tag #asylm (no U because the proper spelling caused too many unrelated items to fall into the search results) a hand-full of tweeters kept the fandom informed of who said what, to whom and where. Fans all over the world logged in all through the night in order to get the latest updates and it created a party atmosphere that is sure to become a convention must from now on in.

Missed all the fun? You can still check out the #aslym tag, but I’d recommend checking out Supernatural Wiki for more comprehenisve reports.

For a real treat, check out Misha Collins on Twitter and be prepared to be both amused, scared and confused. This really is Misha and that fact has been verified by a number of good sources including the CW publicity head and Misha himself at the con.

Here’s a typical Misha post as he headed out to the con:

“on way to Birmingham. I’m worried because I didn’t get all the shots I need to travel to an undeveloped country. hope I don’t get cholera.”

Just for the record, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki were asked about Twitter and they both said that they DO NOT have accounts. So anyone you see claiming to be Jensen or Jared is a fake.

Here’s Misha hiding out in his bunker after the recent LA earthquake:

“Minions, the pony gave out. I consumed the haunches while still warm. very little power left on my laptop. Very little oxygen. I’m so weak.”

Yes, he’s more than a little crazy, and that’s why we adore him so.

With his unblinking stare and deep, humorless voice, he’s been guiding Dean Winchester down a biblical path that’s leading them all straight into the ultimate maelstrom known as the apocalypse.

But when the director yells cut, Castiel falls away and in his place stands the witty and charming Misha Collins, fitting in on the Supernatural set as if he’d been there since day one.

Listen in as Misha Collins talks to me about body swaps, the fear of God and his recent dual role as both Castiel and the human vessel he calls home.

Cyn: Last week’s episode “The Rapture,” was a total tour de force for you, wasn’t it? How hard was it to play two different characters in the same episode?

Misha: It was a challenge on a couple of levels. I needed to really flush out a distinct character [for Jimmy] that was going to have different physical, vocal, and personality traits so that there was going to be a clear distinction between him and Castiel. It was a challenge to stay on top of exactly where I was in the story, because there were flashbacks and different arcs for each of the characters, so there was a lot going on that required me to be attentive. It was interesting and I enjoyed it. Maybe next season I could ask Eric to let me play all the characters . . .

Cyn: Well, the fans have been bugging Eric Kripke for a body swap episode. So maybe one of the Winchester boys could change places with Castiel.

Misha: Oh, that would be fun. That would be a great opportunity to mock one another.

Cyn: If you made the switch, which of the boys would be easiest for you to mock. . . or shall we say, imitate?

Misha: (laughs) Jared and Jensen have both given me a lot of material to work with on the mocking, so it’s hard to say, probably a toss up. It would be more absurd for me to play Jared just because he seems so gigantic to me. He’s just so tall that there’s something in that that would be inherently, physically different. So, I think that that would probably be the most fun to do.

Cyn: When Castiel returned from his trip “home” he had some rather biting comments for Dean. What exactly happened up there to make him do such a 180?

Misha: I honestly don’t know that much more than you do about why the change in attitude, except for some things that I do know that you don’t know.

Cyn: Could you vague that up a bit more, Misha?

Misha: I’m guessing when I say, I think that [Castiel] was dragged up to heaven and he was tortured or very sternly rebuked in some way that, pardon the expression, put the fear of God back in him and now he’s back to toeing the party line, which is how he started.

I think that’s where Castiel was in episodes one and four of the season. But I think he started to have a lot of doubt and he started to develop a fondness for the boys and concern for their well being and I think that he was dragged back upstairs and. . . there was something a little bit telling in what Anna says. Something to the effect that it’s really, really bad news to be dragged back upstairs and that, to me, makes it sound like maybe there was some waterboarding that went on up there.

Cyn: That’s a tough concept for me. The fact that there are angels torturing angels in heaven.

Misha: Right. Well, you know in “On the Head of a Pin” we saw the angels asking Dean to do them a favor and help torture Alistair, so it’s certainly not something that is out of the realm of possibility. It’s something that’s in their toolbox that they would consider doing. It seems like, for angles, sometimes the ends do justify the means, which I think has been a source of a lot of Castiel’s doubt up until this point.

Cyn: Knowing how Supernatural likes to go out with a bang each season, I imagine you’ve had more than your share of hours on set recently.

Misha: The finale itself is a bigger episode than most, so they even added an extra day for the shooting just so they could get it all in. Definitely long hours but it’s a lot of fun.

Cyn: And will we be seeing more of you next season?

Misha: I got a letter, so it’s official and I’m delighted to be part of the show for next year.

Makes me happy, too, but I have to wonder. . . knowing nothing at all about how this season will end, I’m truly boggled by how Castiel will fit into the next season. Then again this is Supernatural, so Misha coming back doesn’t necessarily mean Castiel is coming back. I wouldn’t put it past Kripke to give us someone entirely new riding that talented body.

Don’t miss Supernatural, Thursdays at 9:00 on The CW.

However, as Bobby sees more seals are being broken he tells Dean they should let Sam out to help them fight the impending apocalypse. Dean disagrees and goes to Castiel (Misha Collins) for help. Sam and Dean have a big blowout confrontation. Robert Singer directed the episode written by Sera Gamble (#3T7521).

Okay, so there were a thousand other fans along for the ride but hey, I don’t mind sharing. When it comes to Supernatural, the more the merrier and certainly the crazier!

It was the Creation Con’s Salute to Supernatural Los Angeles 09 and a great time was had by all. There were so many terrific guests that it would take me weeks to tell you everything that happened and all that was said, so for now, I’m going to stick to the highlight of the weekend, Jared, Jensen and Misha.

Jensen took the stage first looking relaxed and handsome in a loose, blueish-grey button-down shirt and jeans. Though the show had technically wrapped for the season, he said he still had one more scene to shoot in Vancouver the next day so he was working on little sleep. Still, he was nothing but fun and animated and seemed to really enjoy spending those few hours with all of us wild and crazy fans.

There was an enormous amount of laughter (especially when Jared joined him on stage) but there were some poignant moments, too. When asked to tell a story about Jared, Jensen chose to list his friend’s best qualities including a deep passion and loyalty to his family, friends and of course, his dogs. But all of our hearts really went out when he began to talk about the recently departed Kim Manners.

Jensen was asked about a bandage that can be seen on his forearm in Lazarus Rising. He said that Kim, who directed the episode, always liked to keep it as real as possible, so instead of using candy glass in the windows of the convenience store he wanted to use real glass so it would shatter properly when the angel’s voice envelopes Dean. Jensen said his stunt double bore most of the brunt of the flying glass but he himself was not spared. He had to “fall” into frame to make the transition from stunt double to him and his forearm came down on a piece of glass cutting him open. That was just the first of many cuts and bruises. When the scene was done he went to Kim and said said, are you happy, I’m bleeding. Kim said, yes, now go get cleaned up for the next scene! Jensen said he would always carry that scar on his arm as a memory of Kim and I do believe he got a bit choked up right then and there. I know I did.

(MY BLOODY VALENTINE SPOILER COMING UP)

On more random topics, Jensen said two of his favorite horror movies were The Exorcist and The Shining. Despite what people think, he never really donned the miner suit in My Bloody Valentine – that was just the excellent body-doubling of his stunt man. And his love of music began with an old Sears guitar that belonged to his dad.

When asked what Supernatural creature he’d like to be, he answered, “an angel. . . lights flash, big wings. . . or a vampire.” And he counts the scene where he talks to his father’s grave in What is and What Should Never Be as some of his best work.

When asked what the fans could do in return for all the joy he’s given us he simply said, “just keep on doing what you’re doing.” Watch the show, tell you friends and “wearing a shirt with my picture on it. That’s instant gratification right there!”

Next up, Jensen and Jared switch places after Jared brings Jensen a cup of brutally strong coffee. . . stay tuned.

Something revealed, especially dramatic disclosures of things not previously known or realized.

Informal the last book of the New Testament, containing visionary descriptions of heaven, and of the end of the world

Yeah, I’d say that pretty much sums up last night’s episode of Supernatural. “On the Head of a Pin” was revelations-city about Dean’s place in the coming war, Sam’s trip down that long dark path and apparently even angels get the blues.

The episode began with a visually intriguing if not totally necessary scene of Castiel walking through a parking lot of trashed cars. In the center of it all is a dead woman and as the news helicopter circles above, their bright spotlight illuminates two long shadows fanning out from the woman’s body – hmm…looks like angel wings.

Cut to first sign of the apocalypse, Sam is driving the Impala and Dean doesn’t seem to care. They’re on their way back from Pamela’s funeral and Dean looks tired and beaten (emotionally, not literally). Sam, on the other hand, is charged by this. He’s done with being a pawn in this no-win game and an angry Sammy is a dangerous Sammy. Just you wait and see.

Long time fans, think back to first season, to Dean driving, hell bent on hunting while Sam fades away in the passenger seat, too overwhelmed by Jessica’s death to even think straight. The juxtaposition is perfect, they’ve switched roles and Sam is now, quite literally in the driver’s seat. All he needs is one more little push and that comes in the form of the angels snatching Dean right out of the motel room in order to have him do their dirty work.

Actually, dirty doesn’t even begin to cover it. The angels want Dean to torture Alistair to find out who is behind the angel killings. But that’s like asking an alcoholic to step up to the bar. Dean’s afraid he’ll lose what little humanity he has left if he goes down that road again, but I have faith in you Dean. I know you can do it and still stay strong. Just don’t listen to Alistair spouting all those stories about torturing dad and about how Dean broke when Daddy didn’t. . . oh yeah, and how Dean himself broke the first seal when he took up the knife in hell. Yeah, that did it. Once again Dean is felled by self-esteem issues. Seriously, he needs a chat with Tyra Banks because this boy needs to get his fierce on!

Near the end of the episode, when Dean is lying in a hospital bed, eyes misting with tears and he says that line about not living up to the expectations of his or Castiel’s fathers – geez, I just wanted to slap him upside the head but I was too busy reaching for the tissue box. Jensen Ackles cries like nobody’s business and I think he and Dean are going to need therapy when this is all over and done with!

Meanwhile, we’ve got a very determined Sam ready to do whatever he has to in order to save Dean. I don’t care what people have been saying about Sam’s path this season, it’s clear that he still loves his brother. It’s that love that made him cross the line and do something he truly didn’t want to do. But Ruby hops on to his lap, slits herself open and he licks that blood right up. Did you catch her creepy little smile while he was macking on her arm? She’s evil, I tell you, and not just in a ‘hey, she’s a demon’ way. I think she’s been manipulating Sam all along. Offering him that shoulder to cry on. The one person who doesn’t judge him. The one person who understands his issues. Oh boy, he’s a chocoholic headed for Hershey Town, PA. There’s no turning back now.

So Sam defends Alistair with relative ease, then he gives Castiel an embarrassed look like, “pretend you didn’t see that.” Then he’s off to the hospital with Dean, we assume, because we were deprived of any kind of scene with Sam tending to his wounded brother. (Notice no wide shots in that entire fight scene with Sam and Alistair. I don’t think Jensen was there at all, thus no brother hug at the end.)

That’s when the episode does something unusual, it spends the next full act (from commercial break to commercial break) without Sam or Dean. It’s Castiel, Uriel and Anna mixing it up and it was more than I needed to see. The Uriel as the bad guy stuff was fine, but I don’t get the return of Anna, particularly the fact that she returns in the same body. Nice trick. I think Castiel should have finished off Uriel so he could feel some of what Dean’s feeling. Betrayal sucks, big time, doesn’t it?

By the end of this episode, Dean’s pretty much broken and alone in this world. Sam might still be walking around on two legs, but the little brother that Dean devoted his whole life to is gone.

I’ve always seen Dean as the mother-figure in the Winchester family. He’s the caretaker, the one who nurtured not just Sam, but Dad, too. He was the cook, the nurse, the teacher and the cheerleader of the family. And now, literally, the fate of the world is in his hands.

When I was a kid, my mother had a needlepoint sign that she would hang on her bedroom door when she needed some alone time. The sign said, “mommy has had it.” Dean Winchester needs to put that sign on his door then maybe Sammy will surprise us all and become the savior of the world instead of the one that leads us all into the pit.

Watch Supernatural every Thursday night at 9:00 on The CW.

What’s something you’ve done that there’s no way you’ll ever do that again?
Misha: Kayaking down the Los Angeles River, it’s like an open sewer trough.
What have you saved since you were a kid?
Misha: Our house burned down when I was in high school, so I can’t say I have anything from childhood. I guess, my femur? (house burned. . . when he was a [...]
Post from: SF Universe

Here’s Supernatural’s warrior angel, Misha Collins charging once more into the breach, dear friends. . . once more!

(house burned. . . when he was a kid. . . does this worry any of you?)

Captain Kirk vs. Captain Jack Sparrow

Misha: I think Captain Jack Sparrow. He’s got a joie de vivre that Captain Kirk is missing. He’s a swashbuckler! (I like him, he says joie de vivre)

And a bonus question:

Your real name is Misha Dmitri Tippens Krushnic — Russian, much?

Misha: Actually, no. My mother went to Russia when she was in college. She had a boyfriend named Misha and much to my father’s chagrin she named me after him. And the last name, Krushnic, goes back six generations in Canada and we’re not sure where they came from, could be Russian or Ukrainian or Polish. My brother’s name is Sasha, we’re not Russian but my mom wished we were Russian I think. She was a hippie. . . .she wanted to bring communism back to America.

And apparently I’m not alone in my thinking. . . .

Misha: I played a Serb on 24 for several episodes and the producers of the show came in to talk to me, like 5 episodes in. Denzel Washington had just won an Oscar and they said, ‘isn’t it great that minorities are finally getting recognition at the Oscars? It’s great for people like you and for Denzel Washington.’ I said, ‘I’m sorry but I don’t think I qualify. I’m a white guy from Massachusetts.
