Happy Halloween from Castle
October 26, 2009 by Cynthia
Castle isn’t a scifi show but it does star scifi fave Nathan Fillion and since tonight’s episode is all about ghosts and ghoulies and things that bump and grind in the night, I thought I’d talk it up.
It’s called “Vampire Weekend” and it airs tonight at 10:00 on ABC.
As Halloween approaches, Castle and Beckett are called to a graveyard where the body of a young man sporting vampire fangs has been discovered with a wooden stake driven through his heart. Their investigation takes them deep into the heart of New York’s underground vampire fetish community, where they learn that the …read more
Vampire Diaries Gets Full Season Pick-Up
According to Michael Ausiello at EW, The CW has given Vampire Diaries a full season pick-up. That’s a real vote of confidence for the fledgling series that took Smallville’s place on the Thursday schedule. Though Smallville had a better week last week, it’s still tanking in the ratings and it’s hard to tell if that’s the show or the Friday move.
In other pick-up news, ABC gave Nathan Fillion’s new series Castle a full season. If you’re a fan of his from Firefly, you’ve got to catch him on Castle, particularly on the upcoming Halloween episode.
On the downside is ABC’s Eastwick. …read more

Dr. Horrible Honored at Paley Festival
April 15, 2009 by Cynthia
Joss: I don’t get twitter, I think it might be dirty.
Jed: You’re going to twitter tonight.
Joss: Buy me a drink first.
Let’s hear it for the Whedon Brothers! They’re here every night and don’t forget to tip your waitress.
Joss Whedon, brothers Zack and Jed and stars Felicia Day and Nathan Fillion were all on hand for the Paley Festival salute to Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-long Blog. It all went down on April 14th at the Arclight in Hollywood and I’ve got the pictures to prove it.
Here we have the brothers Grimm followed by the lovely and talent – talented and lovely Felicia …read more
Tonight: Nathan Fillion is Castle
It’s not scifi, but fans of Firefly’s Nathan Fillion will want to tune in to Castle, premiering tonight on ABC. Nathan plays mystery writer Richard Castle who learns that a real-world copycat killer has started staging murders from scenes depicted in his novels. Castle is questioned by NYPD Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic, “The Spirit”), a bright and aggressive detective who keeps her investigations under a tight rein. Together, they try to solve the mystery as the sexual tension between them increases!
I guess after that, Castle is hooked, since he’ll be helping solve a new mystery each week. As a …read more
Firefly’s Fillion Returns To TV
According to Variety one of our favorite actors, Firefly/Serenity’s Nathan Fillion will be lighting up ABC’s airwaves soon. The Castle, which stars Fillion as a novelist who helps the police solve crimes, is one of five shows ABC placed orders for Monday.
Here’s hoping this one connects with audiences. Fillion has had two Fox shows that got the axe, Firefly and Drive, the story of a mysterious cross-country race. Since being on ABC’s radar, he had a couple of appearance on Lost as a former boyfriend of Kate. He was a lawman unfortunately unaware of his lady’s criminal past. Looks like …read more
