The Oscar nominations are out

Star Trek comes into the mix with nominations in Special Effects, Make-up and Sound categories. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, gets a sound nod as well.

AMC is offering Star Trek Collectible Gift Cards for purchase. There are four available styles and presumably you get to keep them after you’ve used up the credit on them. If you buy all four at $25 each you get a “free display stand” — aka a cardboard background with slits and feet.

Three more ships have been added to the Enterprise Project gallery, a collection of ship models made by artists from around the country. Keep checking the ships to see when they might be appearing in a city near you.

Three new clips have been released. You can see “Answer Me” on Apple, “Shot of Love” on MTV, and “Disease and Danger” on Yahoo.

There’s no word yet on the script, though they seem to be shooting for a summer 2011 release. Kurtzman was quoted as saying they’ll wait for audience reaction on the new movie before deciding on a direction for the sequel.

Speaking of the prequel, the poster here is the just released, new, new, newest one and frankly, I don’t get it. Looks like a ghost on a white background. Is there a point I’m missing? Feel free to clue me in.

Every photo I see, I get more and more excited about the new Star Trek movie. Zachary Quinto was born to play Spock and I’m liking what I’m seeing so far from Chris Pine (which makes me think of Captain Christopher Pike) who is donning Kirk’s uniform. I certainly don’t envy any of them the task of taking on these much beloved characters but it sure must have been a cool experience for them and everyone who got to step foot on the new / old Enterprise bridge!

Star Trek hits theaters on May 8. In the meantime, visit the website for all kinds of great trailers, photos, downloads and more.
