Human Target, Past Life: New on Fox
May 18, 2009 by Cynthia
Fox has two new shows that might of interest but don’t get too hungry because they’re both scheduled as midseason replacements, not new for the fall.
Human Target has several things going for it. It’s based on a DC Comics graphic novel and it stars Mark Valley from Fringe and Chi McBride from Pushing Daisies. It also comes from Wonderland Sound and Vision which is McG and Peter Johnson whom many of you know from Supernatural. Here’s how Fox describes the show:
It takes a brave, selfless man to make himself a “human target” in order to save the lives of those …read more

Paley Festival Line-Up Announced
February 18, 2009 by Cynthia
Every year, The Paley Center For Media runs a wonderful TV festival where they pay homage to some of the standout shows of the past season. What I like best about their choices is it’s more about uniqueness and buzz then it is about ratings.
This year there are a number of great sci fi shows on the list. If you’re in the Los Angeles area and you’re a fan of any of these shows, you want to get to the Paley Festival panel — it’s worth the effort.
The PaleyFest09 schedule is as follows—please note that events/participants are subject to change: …read more

Bryan Fuller Returns to Heroes
December 5, 2008 by brian
With his critically lauded but ratings-impaired series Pushing Daisies dropped by ABC, Bryan Fuller will now try to prevent the same fate from befalling Heroes. Buddy TV says Fuller, who wrote some of Heroes’ episodes during its hit first season, could return as early as the 20th episode of this season.
Heroes has been in ratings freefall since that breakout first season but reportedly NBC plans to renew it. With the network’s ratings at an all-time low and its fall lineup full of disasters like My Own Worst Enemy and Crusoe, NBC has little choice.
Long ago in a TV galaxy …read more

Critically acclaimed fantasy show Pushing Daisies is no more, done in by second season ratings that never lived up to expectations. It was quite the bloodletting at ABC yesterday as word is that Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money also got the boot. E Online’s Kristin dos Santos confirmed the bad news about Daisies with executive producer Bryan Fuller Thursday.
Fuller said there are already discussions with DC Comics to do a comic book that will wrap up the show’s ongoing storyline. That route has already been followed by Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel. Both those …read more
Pushing Daisies May Live Up to Its Name
November 4, 2008 by brian
The only fantasy-themed show to pick up an Emmy for anything other than sound mixing or special effects is on the ropes. ABC hasn’t made a decision on ordering the final nine episodes of the season but did change plans for the 14th episode. According to E’s Kristin dos Santos, the 13th and 14th episodes were to be a two-part story.
Kristin says ABC asked producers to “cover all bases” in the 13th episode and do one that could serve as a series finale or transition to nine more episodes. The quirky comedy about a pie maker who can revive the …read more

ABC’s critical darling Pushing Daisies picked up an Emmy for Barry Sonnenfeld for Directing for a Comedy Series. They’ll be able to add that to the two Creative Arts Emmys they picked up last weekend.
Sonnenfeld had the quote of the night so far: “Love TV and fear the Internet.” I’m not suggesting in any way you should listen to it, just that it’s a great quote. If you want to stop by, we are liveblogging the Emmys at Media Scribbler.
Scifi Rules at Paley Festival
February 4, 2008 by Cynthia
The Paley Festival line-up was confirmed this morning and there are several scifi/fantasy shows on the bill including the talked about Buffy Reunion and salutes to Chuck and Pushing Daisies. This year the events will be held at the Cinerama Dome which is a great move. The festival, which started out as an industry salute to break-out shows, has become a major fan event. As such, tickets for certain nights sell out VERY quickly, so if you’re a fan, don’t wait to buy.
Here are the highlights:
