This is a moment Star Trek fans have no doubt been waiting for since William Shatner entered the talk show fray with his Raw Nerve show on Biography. Tonight at 9 p.m. CT Shatner will interview his old Star Trek colleague Leonard Nimoy.

I wonder how far they’ll push this “Raw Nerve” gimmick. After all, Nimoy is in the new Star Trek movie and Shatner isn’t. Think Shatner will bring it up? Boy, do I hope so. If you don’t have BIO, don’t worry. The network has been putting the episodes online after they air. So far Shatner has interviewed Jenna Jameson, Tim Allen and Judge Judy. The Judge Judy interview reairs tonight after Nimoy.  Man, he better not get flip with Judge Judy because she does not play around. Don’t hand her a dust bunny and tell her it’s a Tribble, Shatner.

Hollywood is a town of comebacks and few actors have had as many as William Shatner.  He will – forever be associated with – Captain James T. Kirk and the – pregnant pauses in his speech. But Shatner has more lives than the character he made famous.

In the 80s he was tough-talking cop T.J. Hooker. Now nearing his 80s, he’s experienced a career resurgence as Denny Crane on Boston Legal. The character has a huge ego, is well known for his womanizing and many of his peers think Crane’s best days are behind him. Shatner’s Emmy-winning portrayal of Crane indicates the irony is not lost on him.

Tonight at 9 p.m. CT on BIO Channel the actor, pop-culture icon and Priceline pitchman gives talk-show hosting a try with Shatner’s Raw Nerve. Like his portrayal of Crane, his talk-show persona seems to integrate a bit of Shatner’s own personality. If Shatner wants to “strike a nerve,” he’s pretty good at it. Ask George Takei.

Tonight BIO is airing two episodes and the second one should really be a hoot as Shatner interviews comedian/actor Tim Allen. The Home Improvement star played a very thinly veiled parody of Shatner in 1999’s Galaxy Quest. That comedy was a sendup of the Star Trek series, its rabid fanbase and Shatner’s infamously bad relationship with former cast members like Takei.
